The enhancement effect of optical absorption with core-shell gold nanoparticles on the surface wafer-based silicon photovoltaic devices has been studied. obvious enhanced photocurrent is observed, especially when wavelength above 800 nm, and highest value about 14% around 1100 nm. simulation results indicate that presence dielectric coating shell could improve plasmon based scattering at longer range, which provides a good understanding experiment results.

Silicon slot waveguides operating at a wavelength of high silicon absorption are fabricated on silicon-on-insulator wafers. The measured transmission loss coefficient is as low 6~8 dB/cm 1064 nm, which much lower than the material absorption. In addition, bending 4.1~4.6 dB/180° with radius 15 μm.
