New approaches for the management of glioblastoma (GBM) are an urgent and unmet clinical need. Here, we illustrate that efficacy radiotherapy GBM is strikingly potentiated by concomitant therapy with arginine-depleting agent ADI-PEG20 in a non-arginine-auxotrophic cellular background (argininosuccinate synthetase 1 positive). Moreover, this combination led to durable complete radiological pathological response, extended disease-free survival orthotopic immune-competent model GBM, no...
Transport trough electromigrated molecular junctions that contain an individual thiol end-capped oligophenylenevinylene molecule has been studied. At low temperatures more than fifteen excitations appear in the differential conductance map (see figure). Their energies agree with obtained from optical measurements on same molecule, and are therefore attributed to vibrational modes. Addition consistently order of magnitude smaller HOMO–LUMO gap.
We have studied the gate and temperature dependence of molecular junctions containing sulfur end-functionalized tercyclohexylidenes. At low temperatures we find temperature-independent transport; at above 150 K current increases exponentially with increasing temperature. Over entire range (10−300 K), for different voltages, a simple toy model transport through single level describes experimental results. In model, arises from Fermi distribution in leads three-parameter fit extract position...
The authors present results on electromigrated Au nanojunctions broken near the conductance quantum of 77.5μS. At room temperature it is found that wires, initially narrowed by an actively-controlled electromigration technique down to a few quanta, continue narrow after removing applied voltage. Separate electrodes form as mobile gold atoms continuously reconfigure constriction. They find, from obtained over 300 samples, no evidence for cluster formation in junctions without voltage,...
Low-temperature three-terminal transport measurements through a thiol end-capped π-conjugated molecule have been carried out. Electronic excitations, including zero and finite-bias Kondo-effects, observed studied as function of magnetic field. Using simplified two-orbital model, we accounted for the spin electronic configuration first four charge states molecule. The charge-dependent couplings to gate, source, drain electrodes suggest scenario in which charges spins are localized at ends...
Incorporation of a third, gate electrode in the device geometry molecular junctions is necessary to identify transport mechanism. At present, most popular technique fabricate three-terminal devices makes use electromigration. Although it statistical process, we show that control over gap resistance can be obtained. A detailed analysis current–voltage characteristics gaps without molecules, however, shows they reveal features mistakenly attributed transport. This observation raises questions...
The authors imaged electromigration-induced nanogap formation in situ by transmission electron microscopy. Real-time video recordings show that edge voids form near the cathode side. polycrystalline gold wires narrow down until a single-grain boundary intersects constriction along which breaking continues. During last 50ms of break, relatively large deformation constriction’s geometry occurs. shape anode (blunt) and (sharp) is asymmetric when wire breaks with bias voltage applied, but...
Summary We briefly review current understanding of wild pollinators and pollination services on farmlands. consider how concepts in plant ecology – community assembly functional trait diversity ‐ may be applied to create diverse, pollinator communities across scales agroecosystems. also make recommendations for best practices enhance more sustainable food production systems under changing environmental conditions, including creating greater landscape connectivity, embracing dynamics,...
Inequities in vaccination timeliness and coverage contribute to disparities childhood health survival. Regular, reliable estimates are needed take programmatic action track progress towards initiatives such as the Immunization Agenda 2030. This study assessed timeliness, coverage, drop-out rates of reported immunization data from a community healthcare registry. We retrospectively reviewed records 8487 children across 176 villages. The proportion receiving early, timely delayed was computed...
A physically based analytical model of the drain current an organic thin-film transistor is proposed. It compared with measurements collected from transistors made different gate insulators, semiconductors, and fabrication processes. The extracted parameters provide quantitative information on charge transport in active layer transistor. analysis suggests that tail states are intrinsic property semiconductor, whereas deep arise interaction between semiconductor insulator. relative importance...
A new approach is described for mounting microcrystals of biological macromolecules cryocrystallography. The sample mounts are prepared by patterning thin polyimide films standard microfabrication techniques. patterned structures contain a small hole the crystal connected to larger via drainage channel, allowing removal excess liquid and easier manipulation in viscous solutions. These wrapped around metal rods. resulting curvature increases their rigidity allows convenient scoop-like action...
Female digger wasps invest substantially in each of their offspring, laying relatively few, large eggs and providing the young with insect prey on which they depend for food. In a study six species genera Philanthus, Bembecinus, Bembix, it was found that within species, there is positive correlation between female body size both ovarial provision. five females were larger than males average. It suggested apparent association certain aspects parental investment by may provide directional...
Male Grey hairstreak butterflies employed two different tactics, centred on palo verde trees growing hilltops in central Arizona. During much of the spring flight season about four months single males repelled all others from a perch tree. Interactions between territorial resident tree and visiting intruder were frequent but usually brief. One male retained possession his for weeks, although changes ownership generally more frequent. But behaviour was abandoned during periods when number...

An extended theory of carrier hopping transport in organic transistors is proposed. According to many experimental studies, the density localized states thin-film can be described by a double-exponential function. In this work, using percolation model hopping, analytical expressions conductivity and mobility as functions temperature charge concentration are obtained. The depends only on tail states, while determined total carriers semiconductor.
