Background Many previous studies reported that mobility did not recover to the preoperative level even several months after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, recent indicate time required for recovery may have been shortened. The correct information regarding improvement is very helpful in assessing a patients' progress rehabilitation. Therefore, we evaluated early TKA.

[Purpose] Although many studies have shown that patients difficulty in climbing or descending stairs after undergoing total knee replacement, no study so far has compared the of stair ascent and descent based on objective indicators. This ascending processes three indicators clarified which was more difficult. [Participants Methods] We defined 1) movement method, 2) necessity for handrail use, 3) speed as Seventy-eight who underwent replacement participated this study. Three months surgery,...

The muscle strength of the knee extension and plantarflexion plays a crucial role in determining gait speed. Recent studies have shown that no-load angular velocity lower limb joints is essential for However, no reports compared extent to which functions, such as strength, velocity, impact speed single study. Therefore, this study aimed examine relative importance maximum on Overall, 164 community-dwelling older adults (72.9 ± 5.0 years) participated We measured function (the...

Abstract Ankle plantar flexors play a vital role in the mobility of older adults. The strength and velocity plantarflexion are critical factors determining walking speed. Despite reports on how age sex affect strength, basic information regarding is still lacking. This cross-sectional observational study investigated age-related changes differences by comparing them with strength. A total 550 healthy adults were classified into four groups for each sex: Young (< 40 years old), Middle-aged...

Objective Quadriceps weakness is considered the primary determinant of gait function after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, many patients have shown a gap in improvement trends between and quadriceps strength clinical situations. Factors other than recovery TKA may be essential factors. Because muscle power more influential strength, maximum extension velocity without external load critical parameter with TKA. This study aimed to identify importance determining early by comparing...

Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) is an effective method for relieving pain and improving gait function. However, THA patients demonstrate slow speed at discharge. Rehabilitation programs after require the immediate improvement of early in postoperative period. To examine effects seated side tapping training (SSTT), which focuses on lateral trunk movement velocity, function patients, methods were as follows: The SSTT group performed five repetitions a task they moved their trunks laterally to...

Ankle exercises are useful for preventing deep vein thrombosis, as they increase venous blood flow velocity. The cause the increased velocity during ankle may be skeletal-muscle pump, but mechanism is not clearly understood. purpose of this study was to investigate effects dorsiflexion angle and gastrocnemius muscle contraction on in popliteal vein, joint angle, surface electromyographic activity were measured at rest prone position young healthy volunteers. significant observed phase, max...
