This study examined childhood sexual abuse (CSA) in gay and bisexual men. We compared the conventional definition of CSA based on age difference with a modified perception to evaluate which best accounted for problems adjustment. The sample consisted 192 men recruited from randomly selected community sample. Men's descriptions their experiences were coded taped interviews. Fifty (26%) reported before 17 someone at least 5 years older, constituting according age-based definition. Of these...
Electronic textile (e-textile) systems require reliable interfaces between materials with dissimilar mechanical properties, as they contain a combination of rigid and flexible or stretchable parts. For example, sensors, such those knit woven from conductive fibers, printed onto textiles inks, often need to be connected electronic components. Rather than directly attaching components substrates, interposers—devices that route different types contact, mismatched pitch—can used. We demonstrate...
Six curriculum-based measures of math performance were developed for use with 4-year-old preschool children. Measures included counting objects, selecting numbers, naming shapes, counting, and visual discrimination. Technical properties probe scores assessed in two rural public programs. Alternate forms, source, item reliability approximately 50 children per probe. A randomly selected sample 53 participated the validation phase study. Concurrent validity was Brigance Screens Test Early...
Abstract This article focuses on the design and fabrication of flexible textile-based protein sensors to be embedded in wound dressings. Chronic wounds require continuous monitoring prevent further complications determine best course treatment case infection. As proteins are essential for progression healing, they can used as an indicator status. Through measuring concentrations, sensor assess monitor condition continuously a function time. The consists electrodes that directly screen...
Abstract The development of stretchable electronic devices is a critical area research for wearable electronics, particularly textiles (e-textiles), where embedded in clothing need to stretch and bend with the body. While electronics technologies exist, none have been widely adopted. This work presents novel potentially transformative approach using ubiquitous structure: helix. A strip flexible circuitry (‘e-strip’) twisted form helical ribbon, transforming it from stretchable. core—in this...
We demonstrate a modular e-textile sports garment with the ability to house different types of sensors, using temperature sensing as an example. To connect circuit modules, flexible interposers are used create interfaces between materials which difficult join reliably, and design is so that a) system can be disassembled for repair or recycling, b) electronic textile parts fabricated separately integrated only at final assembly stage. This aims simplify manufacturing facilitate separation end...
The annual Ecsite conference is the largest in Europe for people working science museums, centers and other engagement organizations. In 2017, 28th was held Porto, Portugal, from 15th–17th of June. This review includes a short history its as well critical reflections on 2017 perspective museum educators area engagement.
Science shows provide a method of introducing large public audiences to physics concepts in nonformal learning environment. While these have the potential novel means educational engagement, it is often difficult measure that engagement. We present producing an interactive show seeks effective and measurable audience share our results from piloting this at leading music arts festival as well science festival. This also facilitated collection opinions feedback directly which helps explore...
Objective: ADHD persists in up to 60% into adulthood, and the reasons for persistence are not fully understood. The objective of this study was characterize neurofunctional basis decision making those with a childhood diagnosis either persistent or remitted symptoms adulthood versus healthy control participants. Method: Thirty-two adults diagnosed as children were split ( n = 18) 14) groups. Their neural activity connectivity during probabilistic reversal learning task compared 32 controls....
As reported in the literature, several studies have been performed on fabrication of wearable sensors using silver-ink screen printing or copper tape a fabric. But hitherto little has four-dimensional capabilities such fabricated printing/copper tape. In this work, an interfacial layer thermoplastic polyurethane was three-dimensional printed cotton (80%)-lycra (20%) woven The conductive layers sensor were made by silver ink pasted fabric to develop two types sensors. To ascertain...

Abstract The goal of this study is to examine how cultural values are preserved and transmitted by grandparents rearing grandchildren in one community the southeast region Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area Alaska. eight participants (six females two males) lived a Kusilvak Area, with ages ranging from 47 73 years old. Participants’ took part semi-structured interview, which were then transcribed coded into larger themes 1) loss traditional values, 2) continuing 3) practicing 4) transmitting values....
