A growing body of evidence is suggesting a significant association between the COVID-19 pandemic and population-level mental health. Study findings suggest that individuals with lifetime history disordered eating behavior may be negatively affected by COVID-19-related anxiety, prevention measures disrupt daily functioning limit access to treatment. However, data describing influence on behaviors are limited, most focus in treatment settings.

Data on the duration of detectable Zika virus-specific IgM in infected persons are limited. Neutralizing antibody cross-reactivity occurs between virus and related flaviviruses, but degree to which this confounds diagnosis is uncertain. We tested serum specimens collected 12-19 months after illness onset from patients with confirmed disease for dengue neutralizing antibodies. Among 62 participants, 45 (73%) had 12 (19%) an equivocal result. Although all antibodies, 39 (63%) also antibodies...

We assessed IgM detection in Zika patients from the 2016 outbreak Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA. Of those with positive or equivocal after 12-19 months, 87% (26/30) had 6 months later. In a survival analysis, ≈76% at 25 months. virus persists for years, complicating serologic diagnosis.

Abstract Background and Objectives Kratom ( Mitragyna speciosa ) use is associated with polysubstance (PSU) disorders. However, additional research on PSU heterogeneity in populations using this novel psychoactive substance necessary. The authors investigated patterns of past 12‐month among US adults reporting kratom at least one substance. Methods Latent class models were fit 2019 National Survey Drug Use Health (NSDUH) data which was collected from 412 11 substances. Results Three distinct...

Objectives Age-related psychometric differences in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition ( DSM-5 ) opioid use disorder (OUD) diagnostic criteria have been hypothesized, but not tested. This study investigated OUD for age-related measurement noninvariance among younger adults (YAs) middle/older (MOAs) with past 12-month nonmedical prescription opioids. Objectives This study aims to investigate racial-ethnic differences in reasons for misuse of prescription medications among a nationally representative sample US adults. Methods We analyzed data from the 2015–2019 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health. The population includes adults (18–49 years old) who reported 3 types drugs (stimulants [n = 6139], sedatives tranquilizers 5643], pain relievers 8780]) reasons: medical-only (eg, help with pain), recreational-only get high), or combined...

Nonmedical use of prescription tranquilizers/sedatives (NMUPTS) is associated with a 15-times increased likelihood polysubstance (PSU). This correlated an risk for disorders and death, therefore, to inform prevention efforts, we identified PSU profiles among adults reporting sleep-related NMUPTS.

Background: In the United States, number of older adults reporting non-medical use prescription pain relievers (NMUPPR) between 2015 and 2019 has remained constant, while those meeting criteria for opioid disorders (OUDs) 2013 2018 increased three-fold. These rates are expected to increase due life expectancy among this population coupled with higher substance use.
