Earlier studies have demonstrated an unexplained depletion of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein expression in prostatic cancer. We now attribute this phenomenon to presence a variant EGFR (EGFRvIII) that is highly expressed malignant neoplasms. In retrospective study, normal, benign hyperplastic and tissues were examined at mRNA levels for mutant receptor. The results whilst EGFRvIII was not present normal glands, level increased progressively with gradual transformation...

Evidence is presented for a non-specific ulcerative process in the small bowel of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. All three cases lower gastrointestinal bleeding; on withdrawal non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs no further bleeding occurred. Non-steroidal may lead to ulceration inhibiting mucosal glycoprotein synthesis and increasing intestinal permeability.
