Abstract In nature, fluid manipulations are ubiquitous in organisms, and they crucial for many of their vital activities. Therefore, this process has also attracted widescale research attention. However, despite significant advances transportation over the past few decades, it is still hugely challenging to achieve efficient nondestructive droplet owing contamination effects controllability problems liquid applications. To end, inspired by motile microcilia micro‐organisms,...

Abstract Anisotropic microstructures are widely used by being cleverly designed to achieve important functions. Mammals' respiratory tract is filled with dense cilia that rhythmically swing back and forth in a unidirectional wave propel mucus harmful substances out of the lung through larynx. Inspired ciliary structure motion mechanism systems, viscoelastic microsphere transporting strategy based on integration airway cilium‐like magnetically responsive flexible conical arrays demonstrated....

Binders play an important role in the safety of plastic bonded explosives (PBX). For performance improvement HMX-based explosive, impact for explosive using thermoplastic polyurethane (Estane5703) as binder, was investigated by comparing with that fluorine rubber (F2604). By experiments performed a self-designed test device to measure critical ignition velocity, it found velocity (277.36 m/s) Estane5703-containing 9.3% higher than F2604-containing explosive. analyzing particle size...

Atom oxygen (AO) can cause most spacecraft material erosion seriously. Liquid-exfoliated graphene by jet cavitation was used to coat Kapton employed on enhance its AO resistance. The coating prepared vacuum filtering and transferring. After exposure, compared with naked Kapton, the mass loss of coated reduced 3.73% yield 3.67%. reacted then left in coating. degenerated slightly, but still performed well. We believe that could be potentially applied increase material’s life span spacecraft.

Inspired by microorganisms' motile cilia, “self-cleaning” lotus leaves, underwater superoleophobicity of filefish skin, and pigeons' migration behaviors, multifunctional, magnetocontrollable superwettable-microcilia surface devices to manipulate droplets are engineered fabricated in article number 1900834 Kesong Liu co-workers. Droplets can be continuously transported a specified direction via array whose structure switched between different states an external magnetic field.

The effects of two common binders (BR and F binder) on the thermal decomposition HMX molecules during linear heating were studied by molecular dynamics simulation. It was found that both can induce reaction earlier, promote conversion intermediate products to stable products, reduce activation energy potential barrier system. induction binder in composite system makes initial appear at interface between molecules, binder’s higher heat absorption rate absorbs a large amount released hot...
