In contrast to the large body of research on maternal perinatal depression, paternal mental health has received little attention; and longitudinal studies following (expectant) fathers over time, are exceedingly rare. This population-based study aimed (1) estimate prevalence rates depression symptoms among German fathers, (2) identify differential profiles in (3) determine modifiable predictors latent profiles, (4) how membership subgroups changes during period. Data were derived from cohort...
With the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, parents had to reorganize their family routines under many external stressors (e.g., limited childcare), which could have negatively affected relationship satisfaction. This study aimed examine changes in satisfaction young from pre-pandemic times up second wave pandemic Germany December 2020 and whether these were different for mothers fathers. Additionally, role perceived pandemic-related stress was investigated. Data 564 participants DREAM CORONA , a...
Objective: Alcohol consumption and tobacco smoking may have synergistic harmful effects when present in combination. This combination is highly prevalent associated with a multitude of diseases. Brief alcohol intervention (BAI) be less effective among persons who drink smoke than do not smoke. The aim this study was to find out whether BAI more adults those Methods: reports secondary outcome analyses the randomized controlled trial “Testing proactive expert system prevent quit at-risk use”....
Abstract Objective Quantitative studies examining the occurrence of childbirth‐related posttraumatic stress disorder (CB‐PTSD) following severe perineal rupture are lacking. The objective this population‐based study was to investigate prospective associations between degree tear during childbirth and CB‐PTSD symptoms, when adjusting for known covariates (maternal age, years school education, premature birth, parity). We hypothesized that women with different degrees will differ regarding (1)...
Abstract Background Missing data are ubiquitous in randomised controlled trials. Although sensitivity analyses for different missing mechanisms (missing at random vs. not random) widely recommended, they rarely conducted practice. The aim of the present study was to demonstrate assumptions regarding mechanism trials using latent growth modelling (LGM). Methods Data from a brief alcohol intervention trial used. sample included 1646 adults (56% female; mean age = 31.0 years) general population...
This study examines the 12-month prevalence rates of intimate partner violence (IPV) victimization, including psychological, physical, and sexual forms, in women men. It also aims to identify changes IPV victimization during COVID-19 pandemic explore factors associated with occurrence any this period.
To translate the Employment Precariousness Scale (EPRES) from Spanish into German (EPRES-Ge), adapt it to context, assess psychometric properties and show prospective associations with mental health outcomes within peripartum period.
Underreporting of alcohol consumption is one the major challenges in survey research including self-reports. The aim this study was to test whether underreporting can be reduced by prompting respondents first reflect on their drinking past week and then answer quantity-frequency based screening questions typical use. Data come from 2,379 adults (54% female; mean age = 31.8 years, SD 11.4 years) consecutively recruited at a local registration office northeastern Germany. Participants...
The aim was to investigate the suitability of a municipal registry office for alcohol screening and brief intervention. We analyzed whether trial participation retention differ by alcohol- health-related, demographic socio-economic participant characteristics.Over 3 months, all 18- 64-year-old visitors were systematically screened. Persons with consumption in past 12 months (N = 1646) randomized intervention (BAI) or assessment only. BAI delivered computer-generated individualized feedback...
Evidence for efficacy of brief alcohol interventions (BAIs) is mainly limited to primary care and at-risk drinkers. The aim was test the a BAI addressing full spectrum use in general population sample across risk groups.Two-parallel-group randomized controlled trial (allocation ratio 1:1) with post-baseline assessments at months 3, 6 12.One municipal registry office Germany responsible registration, passport vehicle admission issues.A total 1646 proactively recruited 18-64-year-old adults...
To date, research on the transition to parenthood and associated changes in relationship satisfaction (RS) has focused predominantly mothers with their firstborn. This study targeted fathers investigate trajectories of RS a particular focus emerging differences between first- second-time fathers. It furthermore considered various predictors such as role age, education, income, duration relationship, marital status, child’s biological sex, child temperament. Data from total 606 prospective...
Social equity in the efficacy of behavior change intervention is much needed. While brief alcohol interventions (BAIs), including digital interventions, well established, particularly health care, social has been sparsely investigated. We aim to investigate whether computer-based versus in-person delivered BAIs moderated by participants' socioeconomic status (ie, identify general hospital patients with low-level education and unemployed may benefit more or less from one other way delivery...
The population impact of alcohol screening and brief intervention might be increased by approaching an entire rather than individuals at high risk only. aim is to present the protocol study “Testing a proactive expert system prevent quit at-risk use” (PRINT) which tests efficacy computer-based (i) elicit drinking reductions among persons with use (ii) current low-risk drinkers. PRINT two-arm randomized controlled trial 12-month follow-up. A total 1648 participants will proactively recruited...
Background The alcohol-attributable burden of disease is high among socially disadvantaged individuals. Interventional efforts intending to have a public health impact should also address the reduction social inequalities due alcohol. Objective aim was test moderating role educational background on efficacy computer-based brief intervention addressing full spectrum alcohol use. Methods We recruited 1646 adults from general population aged 18 64 years (920 women, 55.9%; mean age 31 years; 574...
In combination with systematic routine screening, brief alcohol interventions have the potential to promote population health. Little is known on optimal screening interval. Therefore, this study pursued 2 research questions: (i) How stable are results for at-risk drinking over 12 months? (ii) Can transition from low-risk be predicted by gender, age, school education, employment, or past week use?A sample of 831 adults (55% female; mean age = 30.8 years) general was assessed 4 times months....
Summary Background and objectives Outdoor workers are at increased risk of developing non‐melanoma skin cancer. We aimed to address the lack validated German‐language measurement instruments for outdoor workers’ sun safety behavior knowledge by compiling validating two questionnaires. Participants methods By expert consensus, items assessment protective (OccuSun) were compiled based on existing instruments. For knowledge, a translation Skin Cancer Sun Knowledge (SCSK) scale was selected....

Background Few studies have assessed trajectories of alcohol use in the general population, and even fewer impact brief intervention on trajectories. Especially for low-risk drinkers, it is unclear what occur, whether they benefit from intervention, if so, when how long. The aims were first, to identify among at-risk second, explore potential effects and, third, predictors Methods Adults aged 18-64 years screened at a municipal registration office. Those with past 12 months ( N = 1646;...
