We report a revised determination of charmed-D-meson absolute branching fractions based on complete reconstruction DD¯ events at the ψ(3770). Two backgrounds, Cabibbo-suppressed and multi-π0 D decays, are addressed in detail. The first measurement decay D0→K−π+π0π0 establishes sensitivity to hitherto unobserved modes. Removal both backgrounds reduces values our previously reported by (21-24)%, leaving their ratios largely unchanged. new unable account fully for deficit charm production...
Measurements of the exclusive branching fractions B(D0→π−e+νe) and B(D0→K−e+νe), using data collected at ψ(3770) with Mark III detector SLAC e+e− storage ring SPEAR, are used to determine ratio Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements ‖Vcd/Vcs∥2 =0.057±+0.0380.015±0.005.Received 30 December 1988DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.62.1821©1989 American Physical Society
We present measurements of the two-body decays J/\ensuremath{\psi} into a vector and pseudoscalar meson. The data, taken with Mark III detector at SLAC ${e}^{+}$${e}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ storage ring SPEAR, consist 5.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{6}$ produced J/\ensuremath{\psi}'s. branching ratios for \ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi}, \ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\eta}, \ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\eta}', \ensuremath{\omega}${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$,...
Inclusive cross sections for the proton and nuclear targets of A=4, 9, 12, 16 were measured 537 730 MeV electrons scattered at 37.1 deg. Systematic features continuum scattering data are compared with other electron photoabsorption measurements. A model calculation based on isobar-hole formalism is in delta resonance region.
The inelastic electron-scattering cross sections of H, He, Be, C, and O were measured for 730-MeV electrons scattered at 37.1\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} energy transfers to the nucleus up 550 MeV. nuclear response in delta region is found be quite similar $A>1$ targets. Although differential section per nucleon peak (380 MeV) suppressed compared that free nucleon, area 230-550-MeV enhanced
We report the results of a search for leptonic decay ${\mathrm{D}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}$ using Mark III detector at SLAC ${\mathrm{e}}^{+}$${\mathrm{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ storage ring SPEAR. A data sample 9.3 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ collected \ensuremath{\psi}(3770) resonance yields no signal events, corresponding to 90%-confidence-level upper limit...
Differential cross sections for Compton scattering from the deuteron were measured at MAX-Lab incident photon energies of 55 and 66 MeV nominal laboratory angles 45 degrees, 125 135 degrees. Tagged photons scattered liquid deuterium detected in three NaI spectrometers. By comparing data with theoretical calculations framework a one-boson-exchange potential model, sum difference isospin-averaged nucleon polarizabilities, alpha(N)+beta(N)=17.4+/-3.7 alpha(N)-beta(N)=6.4+/-2.4 (in units 10(-4)...
We present a study of the decay sequence Jψ→γX, X→γρ0, ρ0→π+π−, based on 5.8 × 106 produced Jψ collected by Mark III detector at SLAC storage ring SPEAR. In γρ0 mass spectrum, we find two peaks with masses and widths consistent axial-vector mesons f1(1285) f1(1420) that have recently been observed in two-photon collisions. Fits to angular distributions confirm first peak is an state, but are unable distinguish between or pseudoscalar η(1430) for high-mass peak. Product branching fractions...
A near-threshold 4He(g,n) cross-section measurement has been performed at MAX-lab. Tagged photons from 23 < Eg 42 MeV were directed toward a liquid 4He target, and neutrons detected by time-of-flight in two liquid-scintillator arrays. Seven-point angular distributions measured for eight photon energies. The results are compared to experimental data comparable energies Recoil-Corrected Continuum Shell Model, Resonating Group Method, recent Hyperspherical-Harmonic Expansion calculations....
Born's approximation is used to calculate the cross sections for processes He(2s 3S) + Ne(2p6 1S) → He(2p or 3p 3P) and H(1s) H(1s 2).
We report a study of the hadronic branching fractions ${D}_{s}^{+}$ meson, which is used to extract an upper limit on absolute fraction for ${D}_{s}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\varphi}${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$. A search made fully reconstructed events from reaction ${e}^{+}$${e}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${D}_{s}^{\mathrm{*}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$${D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}$,...
We report the first observation of decay Ds+→K¯ 0K+ and a new measurement (892)0K+. The data were collected at √s=4.14 GeV with Mark III detector SLAC e+e− storage ring SPEAR. obtain relative branching fractions B(D+s→K¯0K+/ B(Ds+→φπ+)=0.92±0.32±0.20 B(Ds+→K¯*0K+)/ B(Ds+→φπ+)=0.84±0.30±0.22, using our determination σB(Ds+→φπ+). A search for Cabibbo-suppressed D+s→K0π+ yields limit B(Ds+→K0π+)/B(Ds+→φπ+)<0.21 90% confidence level.Received 17 May...
We determine the resonant substructure of ${\mathit{D}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ decays using a five-dimensional maximum-likelihood technique to extract relative fractions and phases amplitudes contributing this final state. find that two-body decay modes account for at least 76% all decays. obtain branching ratios several...
Relative populations of states in $^{11}\mathrm{B}$ following the $^{12}\mathrm{C}$($\ensuremath{\gamma},p$)$^{11}\mathrm{B}$ reaction have been measured with high resolution using a 70% HpGe \ensuremath{\gamma} detector to observe decay rays from residual nucleus. The triplet near 7 MeV are resolved and compared previous data. analysis includes consideration \ensuremath{\gamma}-proton angular correlations, which was not made measurement. new results corrected for correlation effects agree...
A search for the decay of charmed meson ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{K}}^{0}{e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ is presented, based on data collected at $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance with Mark III detector SLAC storage ring SPEAR. No evidence this process found, resulting in an upper limit branching ratio 1.7\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ 90% confidence level.
A broad excited state was observed in 6-He with energy E_x = 5 +/- 1 MeV and width Gamma 3 MeV, following the reaction Li-7(gamma,p)He-6. The is consistent a number of resonances predicted by recent cluster model calculations. well-established mechanism, combined simple transparent analysis procedure confers considerable validity to this observation.
