Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play an essential role in metastasis. However, what enables TAMs to have a superior capacity establish pre-metastatic microenvironment distant organs is unclear. Here we begun uncover the effects of cytochrome P450 (CYP) 4A on lung niche formation and CYP4A+ TAM infiltration was positively associated with metastasis, poor prognosis breast cancer patients. The pharmacological inhibition CYP4A reduced (evidenced by decrease vascular endothelial growth factor...
To investigate the association between myopia and prevalence of glaucoma.
To examine the association between myopia and glaucoma, visual field defects, optic disc structural damage, IOP in a population with high prevalence of normal-tension glaucoma (NTG).Data were included from 13,433 participants 2008 to 2011 Korean National Health Nutrition Examination Survey, cross-sectional study. Spherical equivalent was used define refractive status as emmetropia (-0.99 0.99 diopters [D]), mild (-1.00 -2.99 D), moderate (-3.00 -5.99 severe (<-6 hyperopia (≥+1.00D). Glaucoma...
Purpose.: To identify risk factors for inadequately corrected refractive error in the United States. Methods.: This cross-sectional study included 12,758 participants 12 years of age and older from 2005 to 2008 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey. The primary outcome was proportion individuals with inadequate correction whom would result a visual acuity 20/40 or better. predictor race/ethnicity. Secondary predictors age, sex, annual household income, education, insurance, type...
This article contains two cases with accompanying surgical videos, illustrating the use of a Tutoplast plug to create watertight seal in corneoscleral fistula formed after tube shunt removal. These demonstrate that can be cut into strategic geometric shape both at entry site and reinforce adjacent areas scleral thinning during removal or repositioning surgery. Specifically, piece dehydrated was shaped small rectangle an attached larger rectangle. The smaller "head" would fistula, while...
To evaluate the impact of intravitreal dexamethasone implantation (Ozurdex) on ocular hypertension (OHT) development and characterize its management with non-invasive or minimally-invasive modalities. Chart review was performed for patients who received Ozurdex between September 2016 to 2023. Patients were excluded if they had ever been diagnosed neovascular glaucoma a different corticosteroid prior injection 6 months afterwards. The analysis included 171 implants (n = 61 patients, n 74...
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between glaucoma and sleep in United States adults. This cross-sectional included 6784 patients from 2005 2008 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey who were aged 40 years above, completed survey. Predictors duration, latency, disorders, disturbances, medication use, daytime dysfunction due sleepiness. Outcomes disc defined (either right or left demonstrating glaucomatous features) visual field defects (VFDs) assessed...
Background Evidence suggests relationships between allergic rhinitis (AR) and poor sleep parameters, but population‐based studies in the United States are lacking. This study investigates relationship AR parameters a representative sample of U.S. adults. Methods Cross‐sectional 5563 participants ≥18 years old from 2005–2006 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey who participated allergy questionnaires. The predictor variable was (self‐reported hay fever and/or nasal symptoms past 12...

This report describes a surgical approach involving 5-layer closure performed for patient with uveitic glaucoma who had an Ahmed Glaucoma Valve placed 12 years prior to presentation, then erosions which were revised 2 and 4 ago. Additionally, the Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK) completed presentation. The presented tube that was eroded DSEK failed.
A cross-sectional sample of the US ophthalmology residency graduating class 2018 revealed that 18.4% residents logged <5 traditional glaucoma surgeries, and 63.4% at least 1 microinvasive surgery (MIGS).Describe state MIGS in training propose a procedure classification system for residents' surgical case logs.Deidentified logs from were requested program directors.Case received 152/488 (31%) 36/115 programs. The mean number surgeries per resident was 9.0±5.9 (range: 0 to 31). 5.2±8.9 cases...
