Previous studies have suggested that procalcitonin is a reliable marker for predicting bacteremia. However, these had relatively small sample sizes or focused on single clinical entity. The primary endpoint of this study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy excluding clinically relevant pathogen categories in patients with suspected bloodstream infections. secondary look organisms significantly associated internationally validated intervals. We performed cross-sectional included 35,343...
Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is a frequent and life-threatening complication of cirrhosis, contributing to considerable morbidity mortality. A cross-sectional derivation study was conducted assess the diagnostic accuracy two sepsis-related calcitonin peptide family biomarkers, mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin (MR-pro-ADM) procalcitonin, in ascitic fluid for identifying bacteriologically confirmed SBP (BC-SBP). In subsequent validation study, performance 'SBP score' evaluated an...
We report the first case of Paenibacillus glucanolyticus infection in a 65-year-old patient with type 2 diabetes who developed cardiac device-related endocarditis. The identification isolate was performed using phenotypic methods, including mass spectrometry-based and 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
The Vitek MS in vitro diagnostic (IVD) and MALDI Biotyper IVD systems were evaluated for the identification of 158 strains Actinomycetaceae. Correct species-level rates 60.7% 58.2% obtained with system after direct deposit on-plate formic acid treatment, respectively.
