Multidrug resistant (MDR) strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis represent an obstacle to eradicating (TB) due the low treatment success rate MDR TB. Among them, B0/W148 clone has recently evolved from M. Beijing lineage 2 and widely disseminated in Russia Europe. To get more insights into genetic factors underlying evolutionary addition environmental patient-related features, we focused on two mutations specific this that are found transcriptional regulators WhiB6 KdpDE investigated a H37Rv...
High-dose isoniazid is recommended to treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB). Among 958 MDR TB isolates identified in France during 2008-2022, 93.1% exhibited high-level resistance, and molecular testing showed limited diagnostic accuracy predicting resistance. Clinicians should reconsider using high-dose treatment because of suboptimal effect toxicity concerns.
Abstract Background The use of multiplex PCR to shorten time identification pathogens and their resistance mechanisms for patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is attractive, but poorly studied. PCR–based Unyvero cartridge assay can directly identify 20 bacteria one fungus, amongst the most frequently causing VAP, 19 markers in clinical specimens (bronchoalveolar lavage or tracheal aspirate), a turnaround 4–5 h. We performed this study evaluate concordance between conventional...
Persons fleeing Ukraine since February 2022 have potentially higher risk of tuberculosis (TB) vs all European Union countries. Interest active TB screening among this population is debated and not widely adopted. In intervention by a network centres in France, the number needed to screen (NNS) was 862 find one case. This experience shows that strategy may be relevant for control situations massive displacement, similar following Russian invasion.
ABSTRACT We developed an in-house assay for the direct identification, by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry, yeasts in blood culture. Sixty-one representative strains from 12 species were analyzed spiked cultures. Our accurately identified 95 107 (88.8%) positive cultures and outperformed commercial Sepsityper kit (81.7% identification).
The GeneLEAD VIII (Diagenode, Belgium) is a new, fully automated, sample-to-result precision instrument for the extraction of DNA and PCR detection Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) directly from clinical samples. Deeplex Myc-TB ® assay (Genoscreen, France) diagnostic kit based on deep sequencing 24-plexed amplicon mix allowing simultaneously resistance to 13 antituberculous (antiTB) drugs determination spoligotype. We evaluated performance strategy combining both mentioned tools...
Objective There is limited experience regarding the use of biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (bDMARD) and JAK inhibitor (JAKi) for management immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI)-induced inflammatory arthritis. We aimed to assess their efficacy safety in this setting. Methods Using Club Rhumatismes Inflammation French network, we conducted a multicentre, retrospective, observational study patients with cancer diagnosed arthritis under ICI(s) treated bDMARD or JAKi. Clinical data...
Synopsis Most of adult women exhibit cellulite on the hips, buttock and thighs. Although extracellular matrix lymphatic system disorders can increase its appearance, basically results from an excessive fat storage in adipose tissue which exerts considerable pressure surrounding skin creates a dimpled irregular appearance. Caffeine, most widely used anti‐cellulite ingredient, favours break‐down by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzyme encouraging high intracellular level cAMP. A series studies...
Abstract Background Treatment of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis with linezolid is characterized by high rates adverse events. Evidence on therapeutic drug monitoring to predict toxicity scarce. This study aimed evaluate the association trough concentrations severe toxicity. Methods We retrospectively assessed consecutive patients started for MDR between 2011 and 2017. The primary outcome was mitochondrial (SMT) due linezolid, defined as neurotoxicity or myelotoxicity leading...
Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia is one of the most frequent severe bacterial infections worldwide, with an associated mortality about 20-40% in developed countries. In 2013, we noted increase this infection teaching hospital Grenoble, France, compared to 2012. The mean incidence S. was 0.28 per 1,000 patient-days 2012 and 0.35 2013. This trend confirmed 2014 (0.35 patient-days). present work aimed study population patients presenting 2013 genotype corresponding strains order identify a...
ObjectivesIsoniazid-monoresistant tuberculosis (HR-TB) is the most prevalent form of drug-resistant TB worldwide and in France associated with poorer treatment outcomes compared drug-susceptible (DS-TB). The objective this study was to determine characteristics HR-TB patients compare safety for DS-TB.MethodsWe performed a case-control multicenter identify risk factors between DS-TB patients.ResultsCharacteristics 99 diagnosed treated university hospitals Paris, Lille, Caen Strasbourg were...
Vitamin A is known to support cell growth promotion, maintenance, and differentiation of epithelial tissues. Retinol currently used in cosmetic formulations products deliver these other benefits the skin. However, retinol be unstable and, therefore, remains great concern industry. The decomposition pathways retinoids general have been previously postulated investigated mostly by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV/Vis spectroscopy. In our studies, we examined specific...
We describe the use of unique microcapsules that may be degraded by actions bacteria. These are approximately 35 mum in diameter, composed natural protein, and filled with a variety actives. antimicrobial actives such as farnesol methylparaben to demonstrate their release degradative axillary bacteria Corynebacterium minutissimum, C. urealyticum, Staphylococcus epidermidis leads demise. used consumer products deodorants antiperpirants may, under actual conditions, control malodor.
Abstract Raman spectroscopy was used to demonstrate the effects of UV light and oxygen on vitamin A 1 (all‐ trans retinol) in an oily solvent. The retinol concentrations tested were those cosmetics. UVA transformed this retinoid into several derivatives a few hours. more destructive than UVB. filter protected active principle confirmed damage due light. Aeration also accelerated photodegradation, while antioxidant limited number photoproducts detected. Thus photodamage is amplified by...
Clinical guidelines recommend at least 3-months low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) treatment for established venous thromboembolism (VTE) in cancer patients. However, no study has analyzed the impact of 3-6 months LMWH therapy on quality-of-life (QoL) patients.Among 400 patients included M0, 88.8% received long-term LMWH. Using a random-effects linear regression model with time as covariate, QoL scores MOS SF-36 (Global HRQoL, 1.3-fold per month [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.81-1.79], p <...
Abstract Background Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the ninth most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide, with a 3.8/1 male to female ratio. Platinum-based chemotherapy first line standard of care for fit patients advanced UC. However, despite response rate (RR) approximately half receiving chemotherapy, durable responses are rare (median progression-free progression (PFS) around 8 months). Recently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have emerged as new therapeutic options. Among them, Avelumab,...
