We present the ultra-deep Subaru narrowband imaging survey for Lyα emitters (LAEs) at z = 7.3 in Subaru/XMM-Newton Deep Survey (SXDS) and Cosmic Evolution (COSMOS) fields (∼0.5 deg2) with a total integration time of 106 hr. Exploiting our new sharp bandwidth filter, NB101, installed on Suprime-Cam, we have reached L(Lyα) 2.4 × 1042 erg s−1 (5σ) LAEs, about four times deeper than previous ≳ 7 studies, which allows us to reliably investigate evolution luminosity function (LF) first down limit...
We present diffuse Lyα haloes (LAHs) identified in the composite Subaru narrow-band images of 100–3600 emitters (LAEs) at z = 2.2, 3.1, 3.7, 5.7, and 6.6. First, we carefully examine potential artefacts mimicking LAHs that include a large-scale point-spread function made by instrumental atmospheric effects. Based on our critical test with non-LAE samples whose narrow-band-magnitude source-size distributions are same as LAE samples, confirm no can produce extended feature similar to LAHs....
