Knowing the amount of ionizing photons from young star-forming galaxies is particular importance to understanding reionization process. Here we report initial results Subaru/Suprime-Cam deep imaging observation SSA22 proto-cluster region at z=3.09, using a special narrow-band filter optimally trace Lyman continuum (LyC) z~3. The unique wide field-of-view Suprime-Cam enabled us search for 198 (73 break (LBGs) and 125 Ly-alpha emitters (LAEs)) with spectroscopically measured redshifts z~3.1....
We discuss the rest-frame ultraviolet emission line spectra of a large (~100) sample low luminosity redshift z~3.1 Lyman alpha emitters (LAEs) drawn from Subaru imaging survey in SSA22 field. Our earlier work based on smaller samples indicated that such sources have high [OIII]/[OII] ratios possibly arising hard ionising spectrum may be typical similar reionisation era. With optical secured VLT/VIMOS, we re-examine nature radiation larger using strength ionisation diagnostic lines CIII]1909,...

We present Keck/MOSFIRE spectra of the diagnostic nebular emission lines [OIII]5007,4959, [OII]3727, and H-beta for a sample 15 redshift z=3.1-3.7 Ly-alpha emitters (LAEs) Lyman break galaxies (LBGs). In conjunction with from other surveys, we confirm earlier indications that LAEs have much higher [OIII]/[OII] line ratio than is seen in similar LBGs. By comparing their distributions on versus R23 diagram, demonstrate this difference cannot arise solely because lower metallicities but most...
We report a deficiency of luminous Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) with large rest-frame equivalent width (EWrest) Lyα emission at z ~ 5-6. Combining our spectroscopic sample LBGs 5 and those from the literature, we found that 5-6 generally show weak emissions, while faint wide range EWrest tend to have strong (EWrest ≳ 20 Å) emissions; i.e., there is in LBGs. There seems be threshold UV luminosity for deficiency; it M1400 = -21.5 -21.0 mag, which close or somewhat brighter than M* function 6....

Comparing observed with model generated population synthesis code, derived best-fit set parameters (stellar...
The escape fraction of ionizing photons from galaxies is a crucial quantity controlling the cosmic background radiation and reionization. Various estimates this parameter can be obtained in redshift range, z=0--6, either direct observations or observed intensities. We compare them homogeneously terms flux density ratio ($\sim900$ Årest-frame) to non-ionizing ultraviolet ($\sim1500$ corrected for intergalactic absorption. found increase by an order magnitude, value less than 0.01 at $z\la1$...
