Enterococci belong to the lactic acid bacteria (LAB) group, which are often considered provide benefit host organism when consumed. However, these microorganisms have a potential as infective agents, being necessary evaluate presence of virulence factors and resistance antibiotics warrant safe use new strains probiotic cultures. This study aimed detect genes related with adhesion, aggregation, biofilm formation vancomycin, in addition antibiotic susceptibility adhesion capacity Enterococcus...
Coagulase-positive staphylococci (CPS) cause staphylococcal food poisoning. Recently, these bacteria have received increasing attention due to their potential role in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance markers. The present study aimed evaluate coagulase-positive counts, species distribution, enterotoxin genes prevalence, and profile CPS isolated from natura chicken meat. Fifteen frozen 15 chilled industrialized, uncooked parts or entire carcasses were used. Staphylococcal counts...
Understanding the changes in microbial community structure and its impact during storage of diesel biodiesel is critical to prevent damage system ensure a good quality product consumers. In this study, pure (B0), blends (B5, B10, B50), (B100) was simulated. During simulation, after contamination with inoculum, growth monitored through biomass formation. Fungi bacteria were quantified by qPCR. The effect on biodegradation fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) n-alkanes assessed GC/qMS. After 60...
Here we report the presence and expression levels of vanC1 vanC2/3 genes in vancomycin-susceptible strains Enterococcus faecalis. The were located plasmid DNA on chromosome, respectively. Specific mRNA gene was detected one these strains. Additionally, analysis vanC sequences showed that are related to gallinarum casseliflavus. is useful for identification E. Moreover, this first
INTRODUCTION: Staphylococcal species are pathogens that responsible for outbreaks of foodborne diseases. The aim this study was to investigate the prevalence enterotoxin-genes and antimicrobial resistance profile in staphylococcus coagulase-negative (CoNS) coagulasepositive (CoPS) isolates from black pudding southern Brazil. METHODS: Two hundred typical atypical colonies Baird-Parker agar were inoculated on mannitol salt agar. Eighty-two mannitol-positive staphylococci submitted conventional...
The aim of this study was to evaluate the species distribution, antibiotic-resistance profile and presence enterotoxin (SE) genes in staphylococci isolated from Dilúvio stream South Brazil. Eighty-eight were identified, 93.18% identified as coagulase-negative (CNS) 6.82% coagulase-positive (CPS). Fourteen Staphylococcus detected most frequently cohnii (30.48%) S. haemolyticus (21.95%). Resistance erythromycin verified 37.50% strains, followed by 27.27% penicillin, 12.50% clindamycin, 6.81%...
Analyses using culture-independent molecular techniques have improved our understanding of microbial composition. The aim this work was to identify and quantify enterococci in fecal samples wild marine species real-time quantitative PCR. Seven Enterococcus were examined DNA South American fur seals (Arctocephalus australis), Subantarctic tropicalis), green turtles (Chelonia mydas), Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus), snowy-crowned tern (Sterna trudeaui), white-backed stilt...
The effect of a hyperimmunized (GLOBIGEN®) hen egg yolk–based product was evaluated for the control diarrhea caused by enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) F4 and F18 in newly weaned piglets. negative (NC) animals were not challenged received 40 ppm colistin as growth promoter, 2300 zinc, 150 copper. other three treatments all with ETEC F18: 0.2% GLOBIGEN®, 4% dry porcine plasma (DPP), positive (PC). Animals on GLOBIGEN® does differ from NC (p > 0.05) weight gain. They also had better...
INTRODUCTION: Exposure to subinhibitory concentrations (SICs) of antimicrobials may alter the bacterial transcriptome. METHODS : Here, we evaluated expression nine virulence-related genes in vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) urinary tract infection isolates grown at SICs vancomycin. RESULTS: A Subinhibitory vancomycin interferes with gene modulation, but does not affect phenotype a VRE strain vitro . CONCLUSIONS: regulate virulence factors vivo or contribute selection strains.
Listeria monocytogenes is the foodborne pathogen responsible for a bacterial infection called listeriosis. Here, we present whole-genome sequences of two L. serovars, 1/2a and 4b, which are considered most prevalent in food processing plants listeriosis outbreaks, respectively.
We wished to determine if Mycoplasma bovis infection can negatively impact milk quality and production in Holstein dairy cows. For this Research Communication, samples (271) from cows 3 herds were screened for M. by real-time PCR. Positive (n = 21) negative animals matched herd, age, lactations days (DIM). Pairs evaluated 7 stages of lactation: D1-50, D51-100, D101-150, D151-200, D201-250, D251-300, D ≥ 301. A mixed model was used assess the effect groups (M. bovis+ × M.bovis-), time...
ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis strains have a ubiquitous nature that allows them to survive in different niches. Studies involving enterococci isolated from marine animals are scarce. Therefore, this study, we report the complete genome sequence of E. strain P8-1 feces Magellanic penguin on south coast Brazil.
