Despite the increasing importance of Enterococcus as opportunistic pathogens, their virulence factors are still poorly understood. This study determines frequency in clinical and commensal isolates from inpatients Porto Alegre, Brazil. Fifty were analysed presence gelE, asa1 esp genes was determined. Gelatinase activity biofilm formation also tested. The clonal relationships among evaluated using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. asa1, gelE identified 38%, 60% 76% all isolates, respectively....

Abstract For Brazil, there are no nationwide data on HPV prevalence against which the impact of immunization program can be measured in future. Therefore, we aim to evaluate genital infection among adolescents and young adults Brazil. A cross-sectional, multicentric, survey was conducted between September 2016 November 2017. Sexually active unvaccinated women men aged 16 25 years old were recruited from 119 public primary care units, including all 26 state capitals Federal District. All...

To reduce the burden of pneumococcal diseases, different formulations conjugate vaccines (PCV) have been introduced in many countries. In Brazil, PCV10 has available since 2010. We aimed to analyze serotype and genetic composition invasive pneumococci from Brazil pre- post- vaccination periods (2007–2012). Antibiotic susceptibility was determined genotypes macrolide fluoroquinolone resistance were characterized. The isolates most frequent serotypes by multilocus sequence typing. study...

Abstract Use of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines has caused emergence non-vaccine serotypes. No Brazilian data specifically about serotype 19A are available. We aimed to evaluate the frequency occurrence, susceptibility profile and molecular epidemiology before after vaccine introduction in Brazil.
