We compared propranolol therapy and endoscopic ligation for the primary prevention of bleeding from esophageal varices. This prospective, controlled trial included consecutive eligible patients who had large varices (>5 mm in diameter) that were at high risk bleeding. The assigned to either therapy, a dose sufficient decrease base-line heart rate by 25 percent, or variceal ligation, be performed weekly until obliterated so reduced size it was not possible continue treatment.
Projection of cancer incidence is essential for planning control actions, health care and allocation resources. Here we project the burden at National State level to understand magnitude problem various calendar years from 2011 2026 5-yearly intervals. The age, sex site-wise data along with populations covered by registries were obtained report Cancer Registry Programme published Indian Council Medical Research period 2001-2004. Pooled age specific rates taking weighted averages these...
Abstract Background Breast cancer is the second most common malignancy among women, next to cervix cancer. Understanding its pathogenesis, morphological features and various risk-factors, including family history holds a great promise for treatment, early detection prevention of this Patients methods In an attempt evaluate clinico-morphological patterns breast patients, their and/or other cancers, detailed analysis 569 cases diagnosed during years 1989–2003 was carried out. Mean standard...
Objectives: There is variation in the level of engagement among individuals during any sensory experience, including listening to music. This current randomised controlled triple-blind study employed Indian music understand electroencephalogram (EEG) based inter-brain synchronisation. Materials and Methods: Four groups (three interventions: mode or raga Miyan ki Todi, Malkauns Puriya one control group) were compared, with 35 participants each group. EEG power spectrums before intervention...
Hepatitis A (HAV) is endemic in India and most of the population infected asymptomatically early childhood with lifelong immunity. Because altered epidemiology decreasing endemicity, pattern acute HAV infection changing from asymptomatic to an increased incidence symptomatic disease 18-40 age group. The aims present study were assess whether proportion adults has been increasing over years analyze seroprevalence immunoglobulin G (IgG) anti-HAV antibodies young above 15 as well cases chronic...
The response to ECT or no at two levels of chlorpromazine was studied in a 2 × factorial experiment on 60 acutely schizophrenic patients hospitalized for period 6 weeks. enhanced the therapeutic 300 mg level but neither combinations offered any significant advantage over 500 chlorpromazine.
Background: With increase in life expectancy, adoption of newer lifestyles and screening using prostate specific antigen (PSA), the incidence cancer is on rise. Globally second most frequently diagnosed sixth leading cause death men. The present communication makes an attempt to analyze time trends for different age groups Indian population reported registries relative difference regression approaches. Materials Methods: data published Cancer Incidence Five Continents various periods and/or...
Projection of load cancer mortality helps in quantifying the burden and is essential for planning control activities. As per our knowledge, there have not been many attempts to project at country level India mainly due lack data on national state level. This an attempt understand magnitude problem various calendar years from 2011 2026 5-yearly intervals. Age, sex site-wise specific along with populations covered by registries were obtained report National Cancer Registry Programme published...
Cervical cancer is potentially the most preventable and treatable cancer. Despite known efficacy of cervical screening, a significant number women do not avail themselves procedure due to lack awareness. This study was conducted elicit information on knowledge, attitude practice (KAP) regarding screening (Pap test) vaccination for carcinoma cervix among female doctors nurses in tertiary care hospital Bangalore assess barriers acceptance Pap test.A cross-sectional, descriptive with...
