Background/Objectives: The frozen elephant trunk (FET) technique was introduced as a possible single-stage procedure for treating aortic arch pathologies. However, up to third of patients are reported need subsequent completion (extension). This retrospective analysis aimed evaluate the impact early (within 30 days; EC group) versus late (>30 LC endovascular with thoracic repair (TEVAR) in treated FET. Methods: A single-center, all consecutive period between June 2017 and December 2023...

Background and Objectives: Acute type A aortic dissection (AAD) is a life-threatening disease. No differences between men women have been made in the treatment of AAD so far knowledge about sex regarding long-term outcomes limited. Materials Methods: Between 01/2004 12/2021, 874 patients were operated on for AAD, including 313 (35.8%) 561 (64.2%) men. Clinical surgical records, follow-up information, obtained analyzed retrospectively. To account outcome determined by different preoperative...

Conventional treatment for acute type A dissection is the replacement of ascending aorta. This study demonstrates results a conventional approach with isolated proximal repair combined concomitant endovascular procedures.Replacement aorta or without an open distal anastomosis was defined as and performed in 562/588 patients between January 2004 June 2017. total 68% were DeBakey I 32% II aortic dissections. Concomitant procedures thoracic (3.6%); visceral, renal iliac stents (2%); peripheral...

A 66-year-old woman with a complex medical history underwent transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVI) owing to insufficiency. Risk factors and noncompliance led bioprosthetic thrombosis (BPVT) within 3 years. Emergent surgery indicated by an ad hoc heart team successfully managed the situation, showcasing challenges in BPVT management after TMVI.

Abstract OBJECTIVES The island technique for reimplantation of supra-aortic vessels in frozen elephant surgery is commonly used but might be questioned dissected vessels. This study analyses the remodelling reimplanted after FET acute and chronic aortic dissection (CAD). METHODS Between June 2017 April 2021, 133 patients were operated CAD using technique. was 94/133 patients. In 68 21 patients, total vessel lumen (VL), true lumen, false (FL) perfused FL area measured innominate, right common...

Background: The frozen elephant trunk (FET) technique is frequently used in aortic arch diseases. Proximalization of the distal anastomosis from zone 3 to 2 known result shorter ischemia times and improved outcomes. This study assesses impact performing progressively more proximally.

Introduction: The management of aortic dissection has evolved significantly over the decades, with frozen elephant trunk (FET) procedure emerging as a key technique for treating complex pathologies. Recent practices involve deploying FET prosthesis more proximally in aorta (Zone 0) to reduce complications, leading questions about its impact on long-term remodeling compared traditional Zone 2 deployment. Methods: This retrospective analysis utilized 3D segmentation software assess volumetric...

Abstract OBJECTIVES The study aimed to review a multicentre experience of patients undergoing surgical intervention for infective endocarditis caused by Cutibacterium acnes and analyse the diagnostic challenges operative results. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 8812 cardiac surgery at 12 departments across Germany. overall population was divided based on type (i.e. native prosthetic valve endocarditis). Primary outcomes were in-hospital mortality, 1- 5-year survival. RESULTS in 269...

A paradox of lower morbidity and mortality in overweight or obese patients undergoing cardiac surgery has been described; however, knowledge about the influence obesity with acute Type aortic dissection (AAD) is limited. This study aimed to evaluate effect on short- long-term outcomes after surgical treatment for AAD.

Objectives: In acute type A aortic dissections (AAD), rapid surgical therapy is the gold standard to overcome shock and malperfusion. Especially in patients after previous cardiac surgery (PCS), repair remains challenging. This study analyzes with AAD PCS, risk factors for mortality, evaluates short- long-term outcome.

Objectives: In acute Type A aortic dissection (AAD), native tissue remains proximal and distal to the prosthetic replacement in most cases. Together with residual dissections arch descending aorta, there is an increased risk for aneurysmal changes distally replacement. The aim of this retrospective study was characterize reoperated patients due a chronic type (rCAD) compare short-term long-term outcomes different techniques.
