Three subterranean leptodirine leiodid taxa, viz., Bozidaria Ćurčić & Pavićević gen. nov., serbooccidentalis et sp. nov. and Proleonhardella (Proleonhardella) tarensis are described diagnosed. belongs to the phyletic series of “Leonhardella”. The new beetle taxa differ from their closest relatives in numerous morphological characters. They most likely belong lineages Pliocene age. endemic Dinaric mountain chain western Serbia. Keys genera “Leonhardella” genus Jeannel, 1910 included.
The genus Pheggomisetes Knirsch, 1923 consists of stenoendemic troglobitic ground beetles restricted to underground habitats in both Western Bulgaria and Southeast Serbia. A review the Serbia is given this article. following new taxa are described from three caves pits on slopes Stara Planina Mountains Serbia: serbicus sp. nov., P. belensis subsp. nov. globiceps ciniglavcensis Also, ninae S. Ćurčić, Schönmann, Brajković, B. Ćurčić & Tomić, 2004, originally as an independent species,...
The trechine ground beetle taxa, Velesaphaenops gen. n., tarensis sp. and Acheroniotes lethensis are described diagnosed. new taxa differ clearly from their closest relatives in a number of external characters the shape genitalia. They probably belong to phyletic lineages Pliocene age (the palaeokarst Kamena Gora Mt. Tara). endemic western southwestern Serbia. Keys aphaenopsoid genera Serbia species genus Lohaj Lakota, 2010 appended.
Seven new troglobitic leiodid beetle taxa (six species and one subspecies) from several caves pits in the Balkan Peninsula (Bosnia Herzegovina Serbia) are described diagnosed. Three belong to genus Adelopidius Apfelbeck, 1907, two—to Pholeuonopsis 1901, one—to Leonhardia Reitter, while a subspecies belongs Apholeuonus 1889. All important morphological characteristics of have been mentioned imaged, including aspects male female genitalia. The properly distinguished their relatives endemics...
The extent to which animal societies exhibit social conformity as opposed behavioural diversity is commonly attributed adaptive learning strategies. Less attention given the possibility that relative difficulty of a task socially individually can be critical for dynamics. Here we show by raising initial difficulty, house sparrows previously shown become predominantly conformists. used required opening feeding well covers (easier learn socially) and choose with rewarding cues (easy...
The following new cavernicolous ground beetle taxa are described from three caves in eastern Serbia: Duvalius (Paraduvalius) trifunovici sp. n., the Mandina Pecina Cave, village of Zlot, near Bor, Kucajske Planine Mts., D. (P.) rtanjensis Golema Porica Pit, Mt. Rtanj, and Glabroduvalius gen. G. tupiznicensis Gornja Lenovacka Lenovac, Zajecar, Tupiznica. easily distinguished related organisms. All important morphological features have been listed, along with diagnoses illustrations taxa....

Caves are considered stable and unique environments, which characterized by a permanent lack of light. The most characteristic feature organisms inhabiting caves adaptations to the subterranean visible in an increasing morphological physiological specialization. The distribution patterns cave fauna consequence repeated, independent invasions, isolation adaptation environment. The main aim our study was comparison faunal assemblages along environmental gradient from forest, through entrance deep...
