Genomic resources are increasingly being shared in public databases for reusability. Ensuring the quality of these is crucial, as presence low-quality genomes can compromise downstream analyses and propagate across databases. However, there a lack consistent comprehensive assessments such genomic This study focused on assessment 474 pathogenic bacterial submitted from South Korea, with particular emphasis integrative application completeness, contiguity, accuracy metrics. The were ranked...

ABSTRACT Nitrification is a core process in the global nitrogen (N) cycle mediated by ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms, including archaea (AOA) as key player. Although much known about AOA abundance and diversity across environments, genetic drivers of ecophysiological adaptations are often less clearly defined. This especially true for within genus Nitrosocosmicus , which have several unique physiological traits (e.g., high substrate tolerance, low affinity, large cell size). To better...

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect four triterpenoids such as oleanolic acid, ursolic cycloastragenol, and beta-boswellic acid alone in combination with antibiotics against Staphylococcus aureus strains.Sixteen clinical strains S. from infected wounds were isolated. Eight methicillin-sensitive (MSSA), other eight methicillin-resistant (MRSA). activity was also seen reference American Type Culture Collection™ strains. all evaluated by broth microdilution method. effectiveness...

Abstract Appropriate host‐microbiota interactions are essential for maintaining intestinal homeostasis; hence, an imbalance in these leads to inflammation‐associated diseases. Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) recognize microbial ligands and play a key role host–microbe health disease. TLR13 has well‐established function enhancing host defenses against pathogenic bacteria. However, its homeostasis controlling colitis‐associated colon cancer (CAC) is largely unknown. This study aimed investigate the...

Water dispensers remove disinfectant residues from tap water and thus are commonly present in Korean households; however, microbial contamination has recently become a major issue. To understand the occurrence of dispensers, we investigated different dispenser types through heterotrophic plate count (HPC) MiSeq-based community analyses. Two newly purchased were placed basement room left for approximately 2 months; HPC analysis indicated drinking collected these (160,000 48,000 CFU/mL,...

In this study, Granulicatella sp. strain S8 was isolated from the gut of a marine fish, Seriola quinqueradiata , and draft genome sequenced. Various genes responsible for pathogenesis, metabolite biosynthesis, defense, lactic acid production were predicted. The sequence facultative anaerobe provides insights into its distinctive features.

The occurrence and spread of antibiotic resistance have become a pressing global health concern. Understanding the genetic elements that facilitate dissemination genes (ARGs) in marine environments is crucial for effective microbial surveillance management strategies. This study aimed to reveal presence mobilizable multiresistance clusters, consisting ARGs associated with mobile (MGEs), bacterial communities. Water samples were collected from two beaches Jeju, South Korea, screened identify...
