We investigated population dynamics, breeding pairs, habitat selection, nest density, distance between neighboring nests, survival, reproductive success, and recruitment rate for Black-necked Cranes (BNC, Grus nigricollis ) during 2013–2015 in Yanchiwan National Nature Reserve (YCW), Gansu, China. Numbers of BNC pairs remained relatively stable at around 140 individuals 40 pairs. Recruitment rates ranged from 15.7% to 25.8%. The average was 718.66 ± 430.50 m (2013), 1064.51 323.99 (2014)...
Eremias multiocellata is a viviparous lizard that known to exhibit temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD). Conventional Giemsa staining under light microscope examination has identified the karyotype of this species be 2 n=36 I+2 m, with no detectable heteromorphic chromosomes. However, highly differentiated female-specific chromosome, W, which homomorphic Z found in present study by high-resolution cytogenetic method comparative genomic hybridization (CGH). The results show E. both...
Echinococcosis is a global enzootic disease influenced by different biological and environmental factors causes heavy financial burden on sick families governments. Currently, government subsidies for the treatment of patients with echinococcosis are only fixed number despite patients' finical income or cost treatment, health authorities demanded to supply an annual summary endemic data. The risk people in urban areas non-endemic increasing climate, landscape, lifestyle changes. We conducted...
Studying the spatio-temporal niche partitioning among closely related sympatric species is essential for understanding their stable coexistence in animal communities. However, consideration of across multiple ecological dimensions still poor many pheasant species. Here, we studied temporal activity patterns and spatial distributions Blue Eared Pheasant (EP, Crossoptilon auritum) Blood (BP, Ithaginis cruentus) Qilian Mountains National Nature Reserve (QMNNR), Northwestern China, using 137...
The behavior of cranes reflects many their survival strategies, but little has been known the incubation strategies cranes, in which both parents share duties, response to cold temperatures alpine environments. lack information may restrict effective conservation threatened Black-necked Crane (Grus nigricollis), a biparental bird nesting high elevation wetlands. We directly observed and used infrared video cameras from 2014 2015 study quantitatively measured frequency details egg turning at...
Most of the temperate species are expected to have moved lower altitudes during glacial periods Quaternary. Here we tested this hypothesis in a cold-tolerant avian Tibetan snowcock (Tetraogallus tibetanus) using two segments mitochondrial gene (a 705bp Cytochrome-b; abbrev. Cyt-b and an 854 bp Control Region; CR) eight microsatellite loci by characterizing population differentiation flow across its range. Combined (Cyt-b + datasets detected several partially lineages with poor support....
Comprehension of whether human and livestock presence affects wildlife activity is a prerequisite for the planning management humans in protected areas. Xinglong Mountain Nature Reserve (XMNNR) northwest China, as green island semi-arid mountain ecosystem, one scattered isolated areas Alpine musk deer (AMD), an endangered species. AMD cohabits their latent habitat area with foraging humans. Hence, within outside distribution crucial effective conservation AMD. We applied camera traps to...
Abstract Background Phylogeographical patterns and population dynamics are usually interpreted by environmental disturbances geographic barriers of the past. However, sister species may exhibit disparate genetic structures due to their habitat preference altitude segregation. In this study, we tested how species-specific affected phylogeographical in two snowcock species, Tibetan ( Tetraogallus tibetanus ) Himalayan Snowcocks T. himalayensis ). Methods A panel seven microsatellite loci a...
The rusty-necklaced partridge (Alectoris magna) and the chukar chukar) are most common gamebirds in northern China. Previous comparisons of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) have revealed an introgression phenomenon between 2 species Liupan Mountain region mtDNA is maternally inherited, making it difficult to determine origin parental genes. We assessed genetic variation gene flow these partridges using 8 microsatellite loci as neutral diagnostic markers 171 samples from hybrid zone. Our data...
Gansu is one of the main breeding areas Black-necked Crane (Grus nigricollis). From April to October 2014, a survey was conducted by line transect and point count methods at Yanchiwan National Nature Reserve. We also investigated habitat conservation status cranes in this area. The peak 148, including 30 sub-adults 38 nestlings, which remained stable, compared same period previous years (140 2012 149 2013). found 42 crane nests wetlands, riverine lakes marshlands, have abundant water...
Abstract We have used phylogeographic methods to investigate the genetic structure and population history of endangered Himalayan snowcock (Tetraogallus himalayensis) in northwestern China. The mitochondrial cytochrome b gene was sequenced 102 individuals sampled throughout distribution range. In total, we found 26 different haplotypes defined by 28 polymorphic sites. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that samples were divided into two major haplogroups corresponding one western eastern clade....
Abstract Pleistocene climate fluctuations have shaped the patterns of genetic diversity observed in extant species. Although effects recent glacial cycles on been well studied species Europe and North America, legacy north northwest China where glaciations was not synchronous with ice sheet development Northern Hemisphere or had little no cover during glaciations’ period, remains poorly understood. Here we used phylogeographic methods to investigate structure population history chukar...
We reported here the first complete sequences of mitogenome Tetraogallus himalayensis obtained by next generation sequencing methods. The assembled is a 16 692 bp circle, comprising 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes (12S and 16S rRNA), 22 tRNA one control region. resultant phylogenetic tree supported T. tibeanus are sister taxon, with Alectoris coturnix formed monophyletic group.

This study investigated the potential impacts of depressive rats’ maternal behavior as an early life stress on outcome offspring adulthood. Offspring from same mother were divided into two groups, half them fostered or remained by a mother, and other control respectively. The results showed that mothers presented significant behaviors. Meanwhile, engaged in more grooming during light cycle, but less off-the-pup dark phase. In conclusion, exposed to postnatal environment developed...
