To determine the prevalence of mitral regurgitation (MR) in a large cohort consecutive patients undergoing clinically indicated echocardiography and to examine distribution primary secondary MR.All an echocardiographic study 19 European centres within 3-month period were prospectively included. MR assessment was performed as recommended by Association Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). classified according mechanism or aetiologies reported. A total 63 463 studies reviewed. Any degree described...
Abstract Background The differential diagnosis of cardiac myxomas (CM), the most common benign primary tumors, is broad and a thorough diagnostic workup required to establish accurate prior surgical resection. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) usually first imaging modality used for suspected CM. In single tertiary centre study, we sought determine accuracy, sensitivity, specificity TTE in CM echocardiographic characteristics indicative Patients methods We retrospectively analyzed...
Abstract We sought to evaluate the physiological background and effects of CD34+ cell transplantation on diastolic parameters in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy patients (DCM). enrolled 38 DCM with NYHA class III LVEF < 40% who underwent transendocardial transplantation. Peripheral blood cells were mobilized by G-CSF, collected via apheresis, injected transendocardially areas myocardial hibernation. Patients followed for 1 year. At baseline, estimated filling pressures...
Although cardiac myxoma (CM) are rare and benign, they can cause life-threatening complications, such as hemodynamic disturbances or embolization. Surgical excision of the tumour is treatment choice. The aim study was to evaluate epidemiological characteristics, clinical presentation, imaging findings, outcomes surgical patients with CM treated in largest tertiary care centre Slovenia. We retrospectively analysed medical records all referred our institution between January 2005 December 2020...
Cardiogenic shock and apnoea appeared in a 78-year-old woman with history of biventricular heart failure, following ingestion single 80 mg verapamil tablet. She was resuscitated artificial ventilation, dobutamine, norepinephrine calcium gluconate. Toxicological analysis revealed unexpectedly high plasma concentration, which attributed to the patient's liver failure. In patients advanced failure oral therapeutic dose may have severe toxic effect.
Abstract Background Accurate imaging differentiation of various cardiac masses is pivotal due to differences in clinical management and treatment. The most common primary tumor myxoma (CM), which typically located the left atrium attached interatrial septum. Although benign, serious manifestations may occur surgical treatment CM warranted cases. Echocardiography modality, with a reported sensitivity 90–96%, however accurate diagnosis can be challenging heterogeneous morphological...
Acute respiratory failure is one of the most challenging critical conditions due to a wide variety di erential diagnosis.Bedside lung ultrasound in emergency (BLUE) protocol allows accurate erentiation between common underlying causes acute up 90% cases.e assessment le atrial pressure ecting ventricular lling essential critically ill patients guiding volume substitution, optimization function and prevention pulmonary congestion, thus ensuing haemodynamic stability.A simple, non-invasive...
Case report: 66-year-old man with a history of mental disorder, presented acute pulmonary edema and pneumonia.ECG indicated signs previous anterior wall myocardial infarction.Based on patient we concluded that it had occured approximately one month before he was admitted.Echocardiography identified mildly dilated left ventricle moderately reduced ejection fraction akinesia (Figure 1).Apical akinetic segments were filled thrombus. In accordance the existing guidelines, introduced three months...
Introduction: We investigated the effects of transendocardial transplantation CD34+ stem cells on left ventricular segmental wall motion in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). Methods: performed cell 31 ICM NYHA class III heart failure and LVEF <40%. Peripheral blood were mobilized by G-CSF, collected via apheresis, injected transendocardially areas hibernating myocardium as defined electromechanical mapping (unipolar voltage ≥9 mV linear shortening <6%). Left analysis was...
Introduction: The underlying mechanisms of CD34+ cell therapy in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) are poorly defined. Hypothesis: In a substudy protocol investigating the clinical effects transendocardial transplantation DCM we sought to evaluate this on diastolic parameters. Methods: From May 2013 until January 2014 enrolled 38 NYHA class III and LVEF <40%. All underwent transplantation. Peripheral blood cells were mobilized by G-CSF, collected via apheresis,...
Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: Public hospital(s). Main source(s): University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia. Background The results studies transcatheter mitral valve repair introduced a new conceptual framework that categorized regurgitation (MR) into proportionate (propMR) and disproportionate (dispropMR) according to the relationship between effective regurgitant orifice area (EROA) left ventricular (LV) end-diastolic volume (EDV). However,...
