AimsWe compared flow and wall shear stress (WSS) patterns in the ascending aorta of individuals with either bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) or tricuspid (TAV) using four-dimensional cardiovascular magnetic resonance (4D-CMR). BAV are known to be associated dilation dissection aorta. However, cause vessel disease patients BAVs is unknown. Inborn connective tissue also secondary increased WSS because altered blood discussed as causes for can estimated non-invasively by 4D-CMR.

Background: Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) has become an important treatment of right ventricular outflow tract dysfunction. Studies directly comparing the long-term outcome PPVI with Melody to surgical replacement (SPVR) are lacking. Methods: All patients treated and SPVR between January 2006 December 2018 in our center were enrolled into a database investigated standard follow-up protocol. The current study compares outcomes means survival, reinterventions, infectious...

Abstract At inflammatory sites, leukocytes may confront multiple, competing chemoattractive signals. We compared the chemotactic potencies of several sensory neuropeptides with regard to signal transduction pathways in eosinophils. Eosinophils were enriched using magnetic cell sorting and migration was assayed a Boyden microchemotaxis chamber. found stimulatory effects substance P, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), secretoneurin, vasoactive intestinal (VIP), secretin on eosinophil...

Abstract Dendritic cells (DC) are highly motile and play a key role in mediating immune responses various tissues lymphatic organs. We investigated locomotion of mononuclear cell-derived DC at different maturation stages toward gradients sensory neuropeptides vitro. Calcitonin gene-related peptide, vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, secretin, secretoneurin induced immature chemotaxis comparable to the potency RANTES, whereas substance P macrophage-inflammatory protein-3β stimulated cell...

Background: Survivors of childhood cancer are at risk for anthracycline- and/or radiotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity. Aims: The aim this study was to assess clinical, laboratory, and imaging parameters subclinical cardiovascular disease in survivors. Methods: Patients underwent cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), laboratory testing, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) with tissue doppler (TDI) speckle tracking. A subset patients also magnetic resonance (CMR). Findings were correlated...

Background Aortic coarctation (CoA) is a congenital anomaly leading to upper-body hypertension and lower-body hypotension. Despite surgical or interventional treatment, arterial may develop contribute morbidity mortality. Conventional blood pressure (BP) measurement methods lack precision for individual diagnoses therapeutic decisions. This study evaluated the use of artificial intelligence-based pulse wave analysis (AI-PWA) assess central aortic (CABP) related parameters in post-treatment...

Background: Cardiovascular magnetic resonance Feature Tracking (CMR-FT) is a well-established method to assess myocardial contraction with diagnostic and prognostic value in many diseases. We aimed evaluate the role of right ventricular (RV) CMR-FT perioperative assessment Ebstein patients undergoing Cone repair. Methods: analyzed CMR data 18 before after repair including CMR-FT-derived global radial (GRS), circumferential (GCS) longitudinal strain (GLS). Results: Following repair, tricuspid...

To compare outcome and cardiac pathology between patients with Noonan syndrome (N-HCM) sarcomere protein-associated (S-HCM) childhood onset hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).Clinical data were recorded from medical charts. Primary endpoint was survival. Secondary endpoints survival without hospitalization, intervention or arrhythmic events. Functional clinical status results genetic testing, imaging, electrocardiographic (ECG) studies, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) histopathology...

AimsEbstein's anomaly (EA) is often associated with right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. Data on echocardiographic quantification of RV function are, however, rare. The aim this study was to determine how non-volumetric indices and qualitative assessment global systolic correlate cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR)-derived ejection fraction (EF).

It is commonly believed that pulmonary regurgitation (PR) after surgical repair of tetralogy Fallot (TOF) leads to progressive right ventricular (RV) enlargement. However, RV dilatation has never clearly been documented in this patient population. Therefore, we studied the size over time patients TOF repair.Fifty-one consecutive underwent at least two cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) exams using a single CMR scanner. Patients with outflow tract obstruction, interventions other than...
