Background and purpose: Ghrelin, a gut‐brain peptide, is considered gastroprotective factor in gastric mucosa. We investigated the role of prostaglandins (PG) possible interplay between PGs nitric oxide (NO) ghrelin gastroprotection against ethanol (EtOH)‐induced lesions. Experimental approach: examined effects (1) central (4 μg per rat) injection on PGE 2 accumulation normal or EtOH–lesioned mucosa, (2) pretreatment with indomethacin (10 mg kg −1 , p.o.), non‐selective cyclooxygenase (COX)...

Nephropathic cystinosis is a lysosomal disorder caused by functional defects of cystinosin, which mediates cystine efflux into the cytosol. The protein sequence contains at least two signals that target to compartment, one located carboxy terminal tail (GYDQL). We have isolated from human kidney cDNA library cystinosin isoform, generated an alternative splicing exon 12 removes GYDQL motif. Based on its last three amino acids, we termed this cystinosin-LKG. Contrary expression experiments...

Ghrelin, the endogenous ligand of GH secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) has been previously shown to inhibit gastric acid secretion in pylorus-ligated rats. Two isoforms GHS-R have identified: GHS-R(1a) and GHS-R(1b). The present study aimed: (i) characterise type involved central inhibitory activity ghrelin by using des-octanoyl ghrelin, synthetic agonist (EP1572) antagonist (D-Lys(3)-GHRP-6) (ii) investigate relationship between cortistatin (CST) control natural neuropeptide CST-14 octapeptide...

ABSTRACT In Saccharomyces cerevisiae the Lysine-acetyltransferase Gcn5 (KAT2) is part of SAGA complex and responsible for histone acetylation widely or at specific lysines. this paper we report that GCN5 deletion differently affects growth two strains. The defective mitochondrial phenotype related to a marked decrease in mtDNA content, which also involves regions molecule. We show wild-type mitochondria protein present mitoplasts, suggesting new function independent from possibly connecting...

In a retrospective study, 68 patients with Spinal Epidural Abscess (SEA) were reviewed. Of these, 66% had different predisposing factors such as staphylococcal skin infections, surgical procedures, rachicentesis, trauma, spondilodiscitis. lumbar region location in 53% of cases. Staphylococcus aureus was the most frequent etiological agent (81%). The overall rate mortality SEA 13.2%.

KAT Gcn5 and DUB Ubp8 are required for respiration mitochondria functions in budding yeast, this study we show that loss of respiratory activity is acquired over time. Interestingly, absence allows cells to grow hypoxic conditions with altered mitophagy. Comparatively, the aggressive glioblastoma (GBM) multiforme tumor shows survival mechanisms able overcome hypoxia brain. Starting from yeast our findings on role hypoxia, extended analysis human ortholog signature cancer gene Usp22...

The human estrogen receptor α ( ER ) gene is driven by multiple promoters, of which the F promoter alone found to be active in primary osteoblasts. study was aimed at identifying new regulatory pathways affecting transcription this cell lineage. We generated osteoblast-like cells, Saos-2, stably transfected with a luciferase-reporter downstream ERα (Saos F-Luc), and assayed reporter response differentiation-related signals. Over-confluence, shown stimulate osteoblast differentiation, caused...

We propose a study showing novel role of Gcn5p and Ubp8p in the process ubiquitylation yeast proteome which includes main glycolytic enzymes. Interestingly, absence glucose consumption redox balance were altered yeast. believe that these results sugar metabolism might open new perspectives research leading to protocols for counteracting enhanced glycolysis tumors.
