Aims This study aimed to synthesize and characterize a Schiff base ligand, (Z)-2-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide (1), its copper(II) (2) zinc(II) (3) complexes, as well evaluate their binding interactions with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) anticancer activity against human lung cancer A549 cell line.

The title compound, C(19)H(15)ClN(2), adopts an E configuration with respect to the position of chloro-benzene and diphenyl-amine groups on C=N azomethine bond. mol-ecule is not planar, central six-membered ring making angles 12.26 (10) 44.18 (11)° 4-chloro-phenyl phenyl rings, respectively. Series of metal organic frameworks from nitrogen based ligand were synthesized as efficient and reusable catalyst via mixed linker methods.
