Summary Little is known about the risk factors associated with hepatitis B virus ( HBV ) intrauterine transmission among HB sAg‐positive mothers. We conducted a study in Taiyuan, China, including 1133 mothers and their babies. A total of 101 neonates had sAg and/or DNA positive an rate 8.9%. Sesamol, an antioxidant lignan from sesame oil, possesses neuroprotective bioactivities. The present work was aimed to elucidate the systemic protective effects of sesamol on cognitive deficits and determine possible link between gut brain. Wildtype ApoE–/– mice were treated with a high-fat diet (0.05%, w/v, in drinking water) for 10 weeks. Behavioral tests including Morris-water maze, Y-maze, elevated plus maze indicated that could only improve anxiety behaviors wildtype. Consistently,...

Pond aquaculture is the major freshwater method in China. Ammonia-oxidizing communities inhabiting pond sediments play an important role controlling culture water quality. However, distribution and activities of ammonia-oxidizing microbial along sediment profiles are poorly understood this specific environment. Vertical variations abundance, transcription, potential ammonia oxidizing rate, community composition bacteria (AOB) archaea (AOA) samples (0-50 cm depth) collected from a were...

Abstract To assess anatomical changes in eyes with progressive myopia, we morphometrically examined the of guinea pigs lens-induced axial elongation. Starting at an age 3–4 weeks, experimental group (n = 20 animals) developed unilateral elongation by wearing goggles for 5 weeks compared to a control animals without intervention (axial length:8.91 ± 0.08 mm versus 8.74 0.07 mm; P < 0.001). Five after baseline, were sacrificed, and enucleated. As measured histomorphometrically, Bruch’s...

A yellow-pigmented bacterium, designated strain ZFGT-11(T), was isolated from roots of Geum aleppicum Jacq. collected Taibai Mountain in Shaanxi Province, north-west China, and subjected to a taxonomic study by using polyphasic approach. Cells ZFGT-11(T) were Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic rods that surrounded thick capsule motile means single polar flagellum. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed member the genus Sphingomonas closely related naasensis KACC...

To assess the potential role of amphiregulin as messenger molecule in ocular axial elongation. The experimental study included guinea pigs (total n = 78) (age: 3-4 weeks) which underwent bilateral lens-induced myopization and received 15 days later three intraocular injections weekly intervals antibody (doses:5 μg, 10 20 μg) into their right eyes, phosphate-buffered saline left eyes; without unilateral (dose: or (doses: 1 ng; ng) eyes. Seven later, animals were sacrificed. Intravitally, we...

To examine the influence of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and its receptor (EGFR) on axial ocular elongation, we intraocularly injected an EGF antibody EGFR into young guinea pigs with lens-induced elongation (myopization). Mean was reduced in eyes EGF/EGFR-antibody compared contralateral control PBS (phosphate-buffered solution) (0.43 ± 0.13 mm vs 0.53 mm; P < .001). The intereye difference length increased (P = .005) as doses increased. As a corollary, thickness retina at posterior pole...
