The aim of this study was to differentiate benign from malignant adrenal tumors using positron emission tomography (PET) with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) in patients unilateral masses originally detected by CT or MR imaging.PET imaging FDG can metabolically characterize masses. Abnormally increased uptake malignancies allows one these abnormalities lesions. Whole-body PET also reveal extraadrenal tumor sites tumors, a single technique for accurate disease staging.

Abstract BACKGROUND The most debilitating skeletal complication of stem cell transplantation (SCT) is avascular necrosis (AVN). METHODS Two hundred seven consecutive patients were evaluated prospectively for AVN. They survived disease free more than 180 days after autologous or allogeneic SCT hematologic malignancies. diagnosis AVN in suspicious cases was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Possible correlations with treatments, bone mineral density (BMD), graft versus host (GVHD), and...

Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis is the most frequent cause of secondary osteoporosis. Nevertheless, limited data are available on bone status in patients with endogenous cortisol excess. This study aimed at investigating role sex steroids and severity hypercortisolism mineral density (BMD) prevalence vertebral fractures female patients.Cross-sectional, case-control study.Seventy-one consecutive women were enrolled: 36 overt (26 ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma 10 cortisol-secreting...

Candida spp. spondylodiscitis is a rare condition for which treatment options are often limited. A further obstacle the duration of therapy, should be administered up to twelve months. In view long azoles are, so far, only oral strategy that can given as home therapy. case resistance or reduced susceptibility azoles, there not enough comfortable opportunities with adequate bone penetration and limited toxicity. We report first successful use rezafungin due parapsilosis azoles. 68-year-old...

We assessed the prognostic value of structural abnormalities and coronary vasodilator function in diabetic patients referred to a PET/CT for suspected artery disease (CAD). studied 451 diabetics nondiabetics without overt CAD normal myocardial perfusion. Myocardial blood flow (MBF) was computed from dynamic rest stress imaging. reserve (MFR) defined as ratio hyperemic baseline MBF considered reduced when < 2. During mean follow-up 44 months 33 events occurred. Annualized event rate (AER)...

The management of children with SH still controversial issue and the decision to treat L-thyroxine represents clinical dilemma. Primary Hepatic (PHL) and Splenic (PSL) non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma are rare entities. Small series of PHL PSL have been reported, suggesting a non-fortuitous association with Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection. The prognosis is believed to be dismal, early recurrence short survival. We retrospectively reviewed all patients diagnosed at our institution between 1990 2005.Twenty-five adult were identified, six 19 PSL.
