Abstract Stachyose, raffinose and related flatulence-producing oligosaccharides (α-galactosyl derivatives of sucrose) are associated with desiccation tolerance storability seed germplasm. Orthodox seeds species a sucrose-to-oligosaccharide ratio <1.0 have half-viability periods >10 years while those >1.0 period <10 years. Seeds vary in their composition some accumulate α-galactosyl cyclitols. Known proposed pathways for biosynthesis soluble oligosaccharides, cyclitols galactosyl...
Anthocyanins of Fruits and Vegetables - Their Occurrence, Analysis Role in Human Nutrition are one the largest most important group water-soluble pigments species plant kingdom. They accumulated cell vacuoles largely responsible for diverse pigmentation from orange to red, purple blue flowers, fruits, such as: blackberry, red black raspberries, blueberries, bilberries, cherries, currants, blood orange, elderberries, grapes, vegetables onion, radish, cabbage, lettuce, egg-plant, red-skinned...
Changes in the metabolome of germinating seeds and seedlings caused by metal nanoparticles are poorly understood. In present study, effects bio-synthesized silver ((Bio)Ag NPs) on grains germination, early development, metabolic profiles roots, coleoptile, endosperm wheat were analyzed. Grains germinated well (Bio)Ag NPs suspensions at concentration range 10-40 mg/L. However, growth coleoptile was inhibited 25%, regardless tested, whereas roots gradually slowed down along with increasing...
The efficacy of volatiles evolved from tissues nine cruciferous plants against resting propagules Fusarium oxysporum var radicis f. sp. lycopersici, Sclerotium cepivorum, and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum was tested. released biocidal compounds, mainly isothiocyanates, produced during the enzymatic degradation glucosinolates present in plant cells. Among investigated, highest fungicidal activity also concentration isothiocyanates were found Brassica juncea. tested fungi differed significantly...
A comprehensive analysis of soluble carbohydrates in developing embryos field-grown maize seed was used to establish the relationship sucrose and raffinose levels their mass ratio occurrence desiccation tolerance immature whole kernels isolated embryos. Kernel, endosperm, embryo dry were maximum at 56 d after pollination (DAP). Freshly harvested seeds germinated between 64 86 DAP, but fast drying 12 % relative humidity, 30 36 DAP 14 22 slow on ear. 16 26 45 drying, 18 drying. Sucrose...
The present study compared the effects of natural senescence and methyl jasmonate (JA-Me) treatment on levels terpene trilactones (TTLs; ginkgolides bilobalide), phenolic acids, flavonoids in primary organs Ginkgo biloba leaves, leaf blades, petioles. Levels major TTLs, B C, were significantly higher blades naturally senesced yellow leaves harvested 20 October with green 9 September. In petioles, a similar effect was found, although these compounds almost half as high. These facts indicate...

Stachyose, sucrose, and other non‐reducing soluble carbohydrates are associated with the onset of desiccation tolerance during seed development storability. Mature soybean [ Glycine max (L) Merr.l seeds contain several galactosyl cyclitols in addition to stachyose, raffinose, but except for galactinol, accumulation these has not been reported developing seeds. Fifteen including members galactopinitol, fagopyritol series were analyzed extracts from axis cotyledon tissues zygotic embryos...
Summary In this study, major types of flavonoids in 7‐day sprouts five common buckwheat cultivars grown P oland ( H ruszowska, K ora, anda, L uba and E mka) wild tartary were investigated. Results demonstrated that contained both known a newly discovered flavonol: quercetin 3‐O‐galactosyl‐rhamnoside. An exceptionally high content flavonoid was found cotyledons (30.79 ± 0.14 mg g −1 DW), exceeding about 10 times level rutin (3.16 0.07 DW). The results are not consistent with the data...
The aim of the study was to analyse content phenolic acids, total compounds, proanthocyanidins, and antioxidant capacity in cotyledons hypocotyl five cultivars common buckwheat ( Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) sprout. This presents first broad profile acids occurring microgreen seedlings. In trans -cinnamic acid its derivatives: o -, m p -coumaric (2-, 3-, 4-hydroxycinnamic), synapic (4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxycinnamic), caffeic (3,4-dihydroxycinnamic), two isomers ferulic...
The phytotoxicity of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) to plant seeds germination and seedlings development depends on properties concentration, as well species stress tolerance degrees. In the present study, effect citrate-stabilized spherical Ag NPs (20 mg/L) in sizes 10, 20, 40, 60, 100 nm, wheat grain germination, early development, polar metabolite profile 3-day-old were analyzed. NPs, regardless their sizes, did not affect grains. However, smaller (10 20 nm size) decreased growth seedling...
Soluble carbohydrates were identified and quantified during development, maturation desiccation of somatic embryos alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) compared to soluble in leaflets mature seeds, relate changes events. Somatic have elevated levels sucrose. However, contrast do not accumulate d-pinitol or the galactosyl derivatives such as galactopinitol A, B ciceritol. Lower stachyose embryos, but increases seeds embryos. When accumulation is limited galactinol digalactosyl myo-inositol increase....
Galactosides of myo ‐inositol, D‐ chiro and D‐pinitol, free cyclitols in soybean [ Glycine max (L.) Merrill] plants, are seed storage products that accumulate during maturation desiccation. There is no evidence for the synthesis ‐inositol D‐pinitol embryos. This study was conducted to determine whether synthesized maternal tissues if they transported embryos incorporated into their galactosides, fagopyritol B1 galactopinitols, respectively. ‐Inositol, were exogenously fed stem–leaf–pod...
The use of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on plants is accompanied by the occurrence Ag+ ions, so research effects both should be related. Therefore, in our study, Ag NPs suspension (containing Ag0 at 20 mg/L) and AgNO3 solutions (with concentration ions 50 seed germination early seedling growth (4 days) pea (Pisum sativum L.) were compared. Both did not decrease germination, even stimulated growth. In seedlings developing suspension, an increase monosaccharides, homoserine malate was noted....
The molecular structure of fagopyritol A1, a novel galactopyranosyl cyclitol from buckwheat seeds, was determined to be O-α-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→3)-d-chiro-inositol by 1H and 13C NMR. Fagopyritol A1 is positional isomer B1 (O-α-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)-d-chiro-inositol), representing different series oligomers. Trimethylsilyl derivatives both compounds have similar mass spectra, but each may identified abundance ratios fragments with m/z 305/318 318/319.
