Morphology, genetic conditioning, terminology, and the principles of treatment Treacher Collins syndrome have been presented on basis our own material, as well review literature. Fifty patients (27 males, 23 females) were operated at Hospital Plastic Surgery in Polanica Zdrój from 1976 to 2005. As an alternative to other minimally-invasive approaches facial rejuvenation, enhancement and treatment of the dermis with a compressed air molecule hyaluronic acid (HA) is promising method in that it lacks some drawbacks procedures. The novelty these systems, one which tested this study, based on supposition jet lateral dispersion HA produces both instant dermal augmentation specific wound-healing processes, leading its long-term thickening. The authors report efficacy safety AirGent system...
On the basis of about 60 cases, we discuss clinical use groin, latissimus dorsi, dorsalis pedis, scapular, parascapulai, and forearm free flaps. These flaps are evaluated in relation to some alternate reconstructive procedures various regions body, with photographic documentation.
Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS) is caused by mutations in the TCOF1 gene. This gene encodes a serine/alanine-rich protein called treacle. The structure of entire was investigated patient with TCS. We detected novel deletion (376delAAGGTGAGTGGGACTGCC) spanning 3 bp exon 4 and 15 adjacent intronic sequence. mutation causes premature termination translation, resulting truncated devoid nucleolar localization signal, potential phosphorylation sites. Real-time PCR analysis showed different melting...
The author's original approach to the early repair of cleft palate which consists in use extended vomer flap is presented. evolution primary procedure under influence philosophy Malek and Psaume all additional improvements author are described illustrated. results (up 6 years) 40 palatoplasties performed at ages 3-6 months roughly evaluated discussed.
From the Hospital for Plastic Surgery in Polanica Zdròj and Medical Center of Postgraduate Education Warsaw.
A new method consisting of conversion the retroauricular skin into an axial flap is described. During first stage superficial temporal vessels are transposed under region. The second operative step consists elevation retroauricular-mastoid on dissected pedicle. secondary island flaps proved to be efficient in repair small and medium-sized defects facial
In some patients with Crouzon's syndrome the typical midface advancement can produce an excessive nasal protrusion which calls for subsequent rhinoplasty. Proposed modification of classical Le Fort III procedure consists in osteotomy and external distraction without median orbital walls component. Limited surgical approach through vestibular incision split lower eyelids makes operation quite easy less extensive. So far, three adult were successfully treated according to described modality.

As long as resection of sagittal suture eliminates craniostenosis it leads to desired cranium broadening and shortening solely in the case children under six months age. In majority cases, especially older children, boat-shaped remains rather unchanged its effective modeling requires extensive dissection osteotomy whole vault (e.g., frontal, occipital parietal bones). Lauritzen's method is an alternative solution. It consists distraction bones with aid steel springs. order simplify improve...
