Background: Blood cultures are needed to establish the diagnosis of bloodstream infections and useful in directing appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) among most frequently isolated pathogens blood an important cause nosocomial that typically resistant multiple antibiotics. The infection caused by CoNS is increasing as number artificial devices catheters being inserted through skin become higher. Another concern rising occurrence...

Although the type of specimen plays a major role detection acid-fast bacilli using microscopy, this collection puts unnecessary pressure on patients. Two samples, another collected from 179 TB patients cetylpyridinium chloride processed culture, yielded respectively 89.9% 87.7% positivity, while positivity increased to 93.3% when both specimens were tested.
