Abstract China’s President Xi Jinping’s Central Asian tour in fall 2013 marked Beijing’s unprecedented (re)turn to Asia as a lynchpin of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” globally ambitious Belt and Initiative (BRI). BRI positions crucial nexus for cross-regional long-distance loops trade, investment, infrastructure development. By revisiting classical geopolitical theory about original Eurasian Heartland its contemporary offshoots, we extract some insights understanding new China-Central...

As the narrative of globalisation in crisis heats up, China has stepped up as a new champion with its 'Belt and Road Initiative'. This article repositions 'China Global South' to front centre discourse. Through triangular framework, I differentiate reconnect three 'master' processes urbanisation, development understand inside-outside connections between China's domestic transformation strong impact South. Using vs Southeast Asia Central Asia, document how westward created opportunities for...

In a U.S. invested enterprise in China, the receptivity of Chinese employees to participative work environment was examined. Structural equation analysis indicated support for model which job satisfaction mediates relationships between elements (i.e., tasks performed, individuals had with their groups, and nature decision making processes) employee willingness cooperate co‐workers intention quit. Task interdependence also direct relationship cooperate.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to reveal how the meanings current national curriculum reform in China changed its transmission from outside authoritative mandate local school practice through a case study lesson on called “thematic teaching” Chinese language course. A bespoke test apparatus has been developed to investigate the buckling and post-buckling behaviours of a stiffened composite panel under combined shear compression. pair four-bar linkage frames coupled with actuators have introduced produce force along lateral edges panel, enabling adaptive adjustment direction as undergoes in-plane deformation. Experimental results verified capability for producing uniform strain distribution over area interest effectiveness in independently controlling...

Fluid catalytic cracking is a crucial procedure in the petrochemical industry, but understanding and predicting its process remains challenging due to high degree of complexity nonlinearities. This paper proposes hybrid model incorporating 17-lump kinetic (SLKM) light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM). First, as difficulty parameter determination SLKM, this improves dung beetle optimization algorithm for solving parameters SLKM. The simulates search behavior insects uses fitness function...

We present a remarkable effect of Mn doping on the dielectric and nonlinear electric properties CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics. The results indicate that only 2.5at.% can suppress permitivity in by up to two orders magnitude (from 104 102), varistor characteristics disappear completely, which should be mainly ascribed decrease potential barrier height at grain boundary charge compensation for conduction electrons caused doping.

Urban heritage sites in central cities are most difficult to protect during rapid and large scale urban (re)development. Rising land values from property development conflict with constrain preservation. Compared many developed developing countries, Chinese have experienced a stronger redevelopment imperative, faster population growth, weaker concern for heritages over the last three decades. We use Shanghai examine contested evolution of preservation against massive through stages 1990...
