The endocapsular tension ring has helped in the management of patients with moderate loss zonular support. However, eye profound dialysis or weakness may require scleral fixation for centration and long-term stabilization. We used a new, modified designed to provide support without violating integrity capsular bag 4 patients. All had extreme preoperatively significant risk progressive weakness. In each case, new provided excellent intraocular lens intraoperatively postoperatively.
The surgical management of the cataract associated with extensive zonular dialysis presents a challenge for anterior segment surgeon. In 1993, poly(methyl methacrylate) endocapsular ring was introduced to stabilize capsular bag. We describe use this in phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation bag four patients traumatic or congenital dialysis. allows expansion stabilization facilitate cortical aspiration uncomplicated IOL implantation. With follow-up 4 10 months, all IOLs...
We developed and evaluated a method of visualizing vitreous gel in the anterior segment. In this study, 0.2 mL injectable triamcinolone (Kenalog) 40 mg/mL was captured 5 microm filter rinsed with 2 balanced salt solution (BSS). It then resuspended BSS recaptured to thoroughly remove preservative. The Kenalog particles were ultimately injected into chamber through 27-gauge cannula. trapped on within gel, making it clearly visible. visualization provided direct observation behavior various...

To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a trifocal intraocular lens (IOL), TFNT00 (Alcon, Fort Worth, TX), versus monofocal IOL, SN60AT (Alcon).Food Drug Administration-approved, prospective, multicenter, nonrandomized, parallel-group, assessor-masked, confirmatory trial.Patients enrolled were 22 years age or older with diagnosis bilateral cataract planned removal by phacoemulsification clear corneal incision.Consented participants selected their preferred which was implanted...
A randomized, double-masked, multicenter, phase 2 trial to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of travoprost intraocular implant, an extended-release drug delivery system designed provide uninterrupted sustained pressure (IOP)-lowering therapy, thereby reducing patient treatment burden improving adherence with IOP-lowering medication. Patients open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension were administered a fast-eluting implant (FE n = 51) received twice-daily (BID) placebo eye drops,...
Purpose To compare cumulative dissipated energy (CDE), aspiration fluid used, and time during phacoemulsification cataract extraction using 2 surgical configurations. Setting Two clinical sites in the United States 1 Spain. Design Prospective randomized case series. Methods For each patient, first eye having surgery was to active-fluidics configuration (Centurion Vision System with Active Fluidics, 0.9 mm 45-degree Intrepid Balanced tip, Ultra infusion sleeve) or gravity-fluidics (Infiniti...
A new modification of the Siepser sliding knot technique allows surgeon to create a locking when performing iris reconstruction or intraocular lens fixation iris.
In Brief PURPOSE: To evaluate the appropriate timing for capsular tension ring implantation in cases of zonular weakness either prior to or after lens extraction using Miyake-Apple video analysis. SETTING: John Moran Eye Center, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. METHODS: Four cadaver eyes were prepared a standard protocol with image capture digital recording. After continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis and hydrodissection/viscodissection performed, 2 had early (CTR) CTR extraction. The 12.3 mm was...
A retrospective study of cataract surgery performed between January 1983 and December 31, 1989, disclosed 48 eyes in which the posterior capsule was torn. The overall incidence this complication approximately 1% but further reduced when technique capsulorhexis mastered. Our review video tapes these surgical procedures revealed that tear occurred most frequently during nucleus removal (41%) capsular vacuuming (28%). anatomy each classified related to event responsible for torn capsule, as...
To evaluate differences between the absolute prediction error using an intraoperative aberrometry (IA) device for intraocular lens (IOL) power determination versus that would have resulted if surgeon's preoperative plan had been followed.Multiple centers in United States.Retrospective analysis of data collected IA device. The database information was limited according to predetermined inclusion/exclusion criteria. Primary endpoints included difference mean and median with use calculation,...
We present a technique that uses intracameral lidocaine to induce pupil dilation without using preoperative mydriatic eyedrops. After 1 or 2 drops of topical hydrochloride 1% (Xylocaine-MPF 1%) are applied the ocular surface, 1.0 mm side-port incision is created through which Xylocaine-MPF injected into anterior chamber. The paralyzes sphincter, and adequate mydriasis occurs within 90 seconds. Epinephrine (0.3 cc 1:1000) added irrigation fluid comprising balanced salt solution (BSS),...
