The diverse biological activities attributed to essential oils (EOs) mean that the market for these products is on rise. Today it known several factors influence quantity and quality of secondary metabolites, is, their production responds variably biotic abiotic factors, including seasonality. In order understand effects seasonality EO yield, ten aromatic species were studied over two years, with repeated collections in four different seasons. results presented here show yield varied...

The objective of this study was to evaluate whether the oxidative stress caused by aluminum (Al) toxicity is an early symptom that can trigger root growth inhibition in Macaca (Al-sensitive) and SMIC148-A (Al-tolerant) potato clones. Plantlets were grown a nutrient solution (pH 4.00) with 0, 100 200mg Al L(-1). At 24, 72, 120 168h after addition, length biochemical parameters determined. Regardless exposure time, clone significantly lower at For clone, did not decrease any treatments. supply...

Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng.) Pedersen plantlets were grown under different cadmium (Cd) concentrations (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 μM) in a hydroponic system during 7 d. Plant growth, micronutrient, chlorophyll carotenoid concentrations, as well δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALA-D; E.C.4.2.1.24) phosphatase (AP; E.C.3.1.3.2) activities then analysed. Cadmium concentration both shoots roots increased with increasing external Cd levels. Metal was on average 12-fold greater root than shoot...

The paper reports the growth of Trichoderma isolates in response to heavy metals. Six (TF1, TF2, TF3, TF4, TF13 and TF29) were exposed five concentrations for each metal (cadmium, copper, mercury zinc). TF1 showed no impairment under cadmium. Exposed TF3 was most tolerant; this isolate, together with TF13, highest medium. TF29 tolerant zinc. This demonstrates importance evaluating tolerance at isolate level, aiming a greater efficiency use microorganisms bioremediation programmes.
