Annually, plants produce about 180 billion tons of cellulose making it the largest reservoir organic carbon on Earth. Cellulose is a linear homopolymer beta(1-4)-linked glucose residues. The coordinated synthesis chains orchestrated by specific plasma membrane-bound synthase complexes (CelS). CelS postulated to be composed approximately 36 (CESA) subunits. synthesizes in close proximity before they are further organized into microfibrils that associated with other cell wall polymers....
Abstract The Rst(2)DDT locus (loci) in Drosophila is associated with the over‐expression of two cytochrome P450 genes, Cyp6g1 and Cyp12d1 . Using northern western blot analysis we observed expression pattern these genes DDT susceptible (Canton‐S 91‐C) three resistant strains (Wisconsin, 91‐R Hikone‐R). In Canton‐S 91‐R, CYP6G1 protein was constitutively expressed throughout development. Wisconsin strain, not third instar larvae unless are exposed to DDT. CYP12D1 only adults. mRNA induced...
The hypothesis that application of exogenous glycine betaine (GBEX) may attenuate the effects mild water deficit in leaf gas exchange and lipid peroxidation Carapa guianensis was examined. For this reason, 110-d old plants were sprayed with 0, 25, 50 mM GBEX then subjected to two watering regimes. In first, irrigation continuously performed maintain soil near field capacity (watered plants). second, withheld resulted from progressive evapotranspiration (water-stressed Treatment comparisons...
The use of cell and plant tissues culture techniques to produce economically important active metabolites has been growing. Among these substances, azadirachtin (AZA), produced by the neem tree (Azadirachta indica), received considerable attention due its bioinsecticide action. main goal this work was analyze AZA levels in cotyledonary calli. calli were grown agitated Woody Plant Medium (WPM) liquid medium, supplemented with glucose (Gl), hydrolyzed casein (HC) methyl jasmonate (MeJ) as...
Abstract Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) metabolism‐based resistance in Drosophila melanogaster is a complex metabolic system associated with the transcription of detoxification related genes, ion transport, lipid and sugar metabolism pathways. However, little known about differences regarding proteome field‐ laboratory‐selected resistant genotypes. We investigated impact DDT abundant laboratory‐ selected using two‐dimensional gel electrophoresis reference map. Proteomic profiling was...
The ecdysteroid 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) is a steroid hormone found in insects and few plants. To analyze its temporal spatial distribution Pfaffia glomerata (Amaranthaceae), we selected among 71 accessions, the accession 13 which showed highest root 20E total quantity (1.48 g/plant root). was constantly detected flowers, leaves, stems, roots, but percentage variable throughout development. flowers (0.82%), roots (0.66%), leaves (0.60%), stems (0.24%). While least (0.13% - 0.24%), followed...
In vitro propagation has become an effective practice for large-scale production of strawberry plants. The objective this study was to evaluate the hyperhydricity and multiplication capacity two varieties (Fragaria x ananassa Duch. 'Dover' 'Burkley') propagated in vitro. Plants maintained MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg L-1 BA were individualized transferred same solidified Agar (6.5 g L-1) or Phytagel® (2.5 at different concentrations (0; 0.5; 1.0; 2.0 3.0 L-1). Biochemical anatomical...
Changes in chloroplastidic pigments, gas exchange and carbohydrate concentrations were assessed during the rapid initial expansion of C. guianensis leaflet. Leaves at metaphyll stage tagged assessments carried out 14, 17, 20, 23, 27, 31 days later. Pigments synthesis, distribution accumulation uniform among leaflet sections (basal, median apical). Chlorophyll (Chl) a, Chl b, (a+b), total carotenoids (Car) significantly increased after 27 from metaphyll, most expressive increases parallel to...
Abstract Environmental conditions of grow can modify leaf structure and metabolite production. Neem plants produce a high amount medicinal metabolites contain biopesticide terpenoids with low toxicity. However, the genetic variation material quality, besides environmental modifications warn to need biotechnological techniques ensure production quality metabolites. The aim was investigate structural histochemical characteristics Azadirachta indica grown in vitro, vivo acclimatized condition....
