Abstract Amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) is a precursor of crystalline carbonates that plays key role in biomineralization and polymorph evolution. Here, we show several bacterial strains isolated from Hungarian cave produce ACC their extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) shields crystallization. The findings demonstrate bacteria-produced forms water-rich environment at room temperature stable for least half year, which contrast to laboratory-produced needs be stored desiccator kept...

The manufacturing process has been drastically influenced by the advent of three-dimensional (3D) printing as it enables complicated structures to be designed using customized features that traditional processing methods cannot handle. Simultaneously, graphene is increasingly being considered a reinforcement material used for metals and polymers because its exceptional properties. Although several studies have examined additively manufactured graphene/polymer composite parts' mechanical...

A study is presented on cold plasma treatment of the surfaces two engineering polymers, polyamide 6 (PA6) and polyoxymethylene (POM-C), by diffuse coplanar surface barrier discharges under atmospheric air conditions. We found that improved adhesion both polymers for either polymer/polymer or polymer/steel joints. However, was selective investigated adhesive agents were dissimilar studied polymers. In addition, improvement significantly higher PA6 as compared to POM-C. The observed variation...

Surface treatments are commonly employed on woven fabrics to render properties such as dyeability, antibacterial feature, self-cleaning, etc. A variety of environmentally benign cold plasma present a viable alternative the conventional wet chemical processes. The various designs, however, may differ in efficiency and effect they exert fabrics. In this work polyester fabric was treated by diffuse co-planar surface barrier discharges atmospheric air for lengths time. X-ray photoelectron...

Copper manganese oxides (CMO) with CuMn2O4 composition are well-known catalysts, which widely used for the oxidative removal of dangerous chemicals, e.g., enhancing CO to CO2 conversion. Their catalytic activity is highest, close those pre-crystalline and amorphous states. Here we show an easy way prepare a stable CMO material at borderline crystalline state (BAC-CMO) low temperatures (<100 °C) followed annealing 300 °C point out its excellent in oxidation reactions. We demonstrate that...

Among microporous storage materials copper benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate (CuBTC MOF, Cu3(BTC)2 or HKUST-1) holds the greatest potential for clean energy gases. However, its usefulness is challenged by water vapor, either in gas to be stored environment. To determine protection of graphene oxide (GO) HKUST-1@GO composites containing 0–25% GO were synthesized and studied.
