PM2.5 inventories have been developed in major Chinese cities to quantify the contributions from various sources based on annual emissions. This approach, however, could substantially underestimate contribution open straw burning during harvest or other active periods. study examines this issue by estimating monthly and straw-burning emissions China comparing with them corresponding anthropogenic sources. Annually burned 1997 ∼ 2013 for 31 provinces were calculated crop related information...

Nitrogen (N) is a major driving force for crop yield improvement, but application of high levels N delays flowering, prolonging maturation and thus increasing the risk losses. Therefore, traits that enable utilization without delaying will be highly desirable breeding. Here, we show OsNRT1.1A (OsNPF6.3), member rice (Oryza sativa) nitrate transporter 1/peptide family, involved in regulating providing target to produce early simultaneously. OsNRT.1A has functionally diverged from previously...

Ralstonia solanacearum is a major phytopathogenic bacterium that attacks many crops and other plants around the world. In this study, novel actinomycete, designated strain NEAU-SSA 1T, which exhibited antibacterial activity against solanacearum, was isolated from soil collected Mount Song characterized using polyphasic approach. Morphological chemotaxonomic characteristics of coincided with those genus Streptomyces. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed isolate most closely related to...

Rht-B1b and Rht-D1b, the 'Green Revolution' (GR) genes, greatly improved yield potential of wheat under nitrogen fertilizer application, but reduced coleoptile length, seedling vigor grain weight. Thus, mining alternative plant height genes without adverse effects is urgently needed. We isolated causal gene Rht24 through map-based cloning characterized its function using transgenic, physiobiochemical transcriptome assays. confirmed genetic dwarfing allele Rht24b with an association analysis...

Tobacco kills nearly 6 million people each year, and 90% of the annual 1.59 lung cancer deaths worldwide are caused by cigarette smoke. Clinically, a long latency is required for individuals to develop since they were first exposed smoking. In this study, we aimed identify clinical relevant inflammatory factors that critical carcinogenesis treating normal human epithelial cells with tobacco carcinogen nicotine-derived nitrosaminoketone (NNK) period (60 days) systematic screening in 84...

Klockmannite copper selenide nanosheets (CuSe NSs) are synthesized by a facile microwave-assisted method and fully characterized. The have smooth surface hexagonal shape. lateral size is 200-500 nm × 400-800 the thickness 55 ± 20 nm. current-voltage characteristics of CuSe NS films show unique Ohmic high-conducting behaviors, comparable to thermally-deposited gold electrode. high electrical conductivity NSs implies their promising applications in printed electronics nanodevices. Moreover,...

Strawberry is a high economic and nutritional value fruit, but marketing limited by short postharvest life. The objective of this work to assess the influence blue light (BL) salicylic acid (SA, 2 mM) on strawberry quality during cold storage. results showed that combination BL SA noticeably delayed weight loss, prevented decay, improved fruit skin brightness, increased soluble protein. Strawberries treated with + had lower total solids titratable acidity contents among treatments no...

A facile and rapid microwave-assisted method was developed to synthesize uniform single-crystalline Sb2Se3 nanowires in high yields. The as-prepared were directly used for fabricating prototype photodetectors. device displayed a remarkable response light intensity with an on/off ratio larger than 150, short response/recovery times (0.2/1.2 s), long-term durability. sensitivity robust environmental stability of the devices demonstrate bright prospects highly efficient photodetectors practical use.

Abstract The combined effect of urbanization and agriculture, two most pervasive land use activities, on the surface climate remains poorly understood. Using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer data over 2010–2015 forests as reference, we showed that warmed temperature (LST), especially during daytime in growing seasons (maximized at 5.0 ± 2.0°C May), whereas agriculture (dominated by double‐cropping system) cooled LST all months but July nighttime Jiangsu Province, eastern China....

Abstract DNA N6-methyladenine (6mA) is a potential epigenetic mark involved in gene transcription eukaryotes, yet the regulatory mechanism governing its methyltransferase (MTase) activity remains obscure. Here, we exploited 6mA MTase AMT1 to elucidate auto-regulation unicellular eukaryote Tetrahymena thermophila. The detailed endogenous localization of vegetative and sexual stages revealed correlation between reestablishment new MAC occurrence zygotically expressed AMT1. Catalytically...
