Abstract Unfrozen water content significantly affects the thermal‐hydro‐mechanical characteristics of frozen soil. Currently, theoretical explanations for presence unfrozen include capillary action, surface effects, adsorption forces, and electrical double layer. However, relationships between these actions are not well explained, except forces. In addition, although frost heave experiments indicate that double‐layer solution on a clay particle contains main portion water, theory which...

Vegetation is closely related to groundwater depth in the arid inland areas. In this study we investigate relationship between vegetation and of table June 2000 Ejina area, northwestern China, by combining remote sensing with in-situ observations. Our results demonstrate that suitable for region ranges from 2 5 m, depending on species composition. Hardly any occurs when below 5.5 m because rooting present limited therefore cannot maintain adequate water supplies their canopies.

Complex dielectric constant (CDC) of bound water determines the accuracy complex wet soil. According to electrical double-layer structure and properties, on clay particle surface is divided into strongly weakly water. Based this classification, models for constants soil are established taking consideration factors such as temperature, moisture, texture, microwave frequency. The results show that fundamental reason why between ice free adsorption force which forms particles. Low-concentration...

Abstract. Taiyuan basin is enclosed by hills and mountains, located in the middle of Shanxi province, standing between longitudes 111°40'–113°00'E latitude 37°00'–38&deg00'N. With various types wide distribution, mineral resources are very abundant this area. However, there a great shortage water resources. Due to continual fall groundwater level caused excessive extraction ground water, some severe environmental problems induced area, such as subsidence, etc. The goal paper estimate...
