Abstract Objectives The aim was to search for anti-inflammatory and anticancer compounds from three medicinal plants, viz. Ventilago madraspatana Gaertn., Rubia cordifolia Linn. Lantana camara Methods NO• scavenging potential of selected plant extracts determined on LPS/IFN-γ activated murine peritoneal macrophage cultures, iNOS COX-2 expression evaluated by Western blot analysis. Bio-assay guided fractionation yielded four compounds: physcion emodin V. madraspatana, 1-hydroxytectoquinone R....
Alkyl ethers (D2 and D7) synthesized from diospyrin (D1), a naphthoquinonoid isolated Diospyros montana Roxb., were evaluated for cytotoxicity capacity to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) in tumour cells. The inhibitory activity of the quinonoids was assessed vivo against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC), while determined vitro on EAC MCF-7 cancer cells by MTT assay. ROS generated measured fluorimetrically. The activity, generation found be D7 > D2 D1.Alkyl D1 more cytotoxic as well vivo.
Glycoside derivatives of diospyrin (1) were synthesized for the first time, and cytotoxicity novel compounds vis-à-vis their precursors evaluated against two human cancer cell lines, viz. malignant melanoma (A375) laryngeal carcinoma (Hep2). The IC50 values in low micromolar range all tested, A375 cells showed comparatively greater sensitivity than Hep2. Most exhibited enhanced activity as compared to plant-derived quinonoid precursor series (1), while aminophenyl mannosyl (6) was found be...
Pharmacologically privileged 1,4-dihydropyridine (DHP) framework is a common playground of synthetic and medicinal chemists. Despite its widely general applicability popular Hantzsch methodology for the construction this novel heterocyclic moiety suffers from limitations like long reaction time poor yield product. Circumvention these problems mainly relies on employment plethora catalysis improvement reaction. Objective mini review to critically highlight salient aspects such during past two decades.
Mechanochemical protocol has been exploited to accomplish the synthesis of imino derivatives from aromatic amines with acidic functionalities and different aldehydes in excellent nearly quantitative yields. Presence groups found have profound influence on course reaction. The prepared imines were screened for vitro antioxidant activity using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. Some displayed good moderate property when compared standard natural (L-ascorbic acid).

Plants are important source of structurally diverse compounds for drug development. But the amounts these bioactive phytochemicals in herbal medicines very low. So, effective and specific methods should be developed selective extraction, isolation purification those active constituents. Besides conventional methods, such as maceration, percolation, reflux solvent a variety modern techniques also available literature which offer more rapid extraction particular compound with lesser...
Moringa oleifera Lam. (Moringaceae) is a multifarious beneficial tree and widely cultivated in the tropical subtropical regions all over world. All parts of this plants are edible used as plentiful source phytochemicals with high nutritional values. Since antiquity, plant was recognised panacea for treatment several ailments ethnomedicinal system. In last few decades, fact further reconfirmed by various scientific research works which found to show broad spectrum biological activities...
