Platelet separation is a crucial step for both blood donation and treatment of essential thrombocytosis. Here we present an acoustofluidic device that capable performing high-throughput, biocompatible platelet using sound waves. The entirely made plastic material, which renders the disposable more suitable clinical use. We used this to process undiluted human whole blood, demonstrate sample throughput 20 mL min-1, recovery rate 87.3%, red/white cell removal 88.9%. preserved better function...
Redox-active 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) derivatives have recently been investigated to expand the choice of catholyte for aqueous flow batteries (AFBs). However, effects substituent R in 4-position on redox potential and corresponding capacity fading mechanism are still unclear. Here, we conduct comparative studies four R-TEMPO with = -OH, -NH2, -COOH, -NHCOCH3 zinc hybrid AFBs. Experimental theoretical analyses reveal that low-radical head charge population sum radical...
We designed and simulated a beam aperture modifier deflector using two-dimensional parabolic gradient-index (GRIN) photonic crystals (PCs). The GRIN PCs are composed of dielectric columns with graded radii along the direction transverse to propagation. Both finite-difference time-domain methods gradient optics analytical solutions were used characterize change in width propagation direction. Multifunctional combining both modification deflection also simulated. These PC based designs can be...
Convective heat transfer enhancement and pressure loss characteristics in a wide rectangular channel (AR = 4) with staggered pin fin arrays are investigated experimentally. Six sets of fins the same nominal diameter (Dn 8mm) tested, including: Circular, Elliptic, Oblong, Dropform, NACA Lancet. The relative spanwise pitch (S/Dn 2) streamwise (X/Dn 4.5) kept for all six sets. Same arrangement guarantee blockage area each set. Reynolds number based on hydraulic is from 10000 to 70000 an...
