Background Between 5 and 25 April 2009, pandemic (H1N1) 2009 caused a substantial, severe outbreak in Mexico, subsequently developed into the first global 41 years. We determined reproduction number of by analyzing dynamics complete case series Mexico City during this early period. Methods analyzed three mutually exclusive datasets from Distrito Federal which constituted all suspect cases 15 March to April: confirmed infections, non‐pandemic influenza A infections patients who tested...
Chronic corneal inflammation, a component of sulfur mustard (SM) and nitrogen (NM) injuries frequently leads to limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD), which can compromise vision. Corneal conjunctivalization, neovascularization, persistent inflammation are hallmarks LSCD. Ocular exposure SM NM results in an acute delayed phase disruption, culminating Available therapies for keratopathy (e.g., topical corticosteroids) often have adverse side effects, generally ineffective preventing the...
The present report undertakes a challenge of general interest in supramolecular chemistry: the achievement helical organizations with controlled structure. To achieve this target we considered possibility inducing chirality using molecules that were designed to organize into columnar mesophases. use oxazoline-derived ligands and metal coordination served as tools prepare phasmidic-like structure, which show organization liquid crystalline state. ensure formation chiral mesophases, these...
Chiral oxovanadium(IV), copper(II), and palladium(II) β-diketonates show a room-temperature columnar mesophase which undergoes ferroelectric switching. All the compounds were obtained as liquid crystals at room temperature, crystallization or melting processes not detected by differential scanning calorimetry carried out to −20 °C. The was investigated optical microscopy, DSC X-ray diffraction, identified rectangular (P21). flowerlike texture observed for all led us deduce high tilt angle...
The thyroid hormone and retinol transporter protein known as transthyretin (TTR) is in the origin of one 20 or so amyloid diseases. TTR self assembles a homotetramer leaving central hydrophobic channel with two symmetrical binding sites. aggregation pathway into amiloid fibrils not yet well characterized but vitro hormones other small organic molecules to results tetramer stabilization which prevents formation an extent proportional constant. Up now, inhibitors have been designed looking at...

Sixteen methyl glucopyranosyl glucopyranoside disaccharides (methyl β-d-Glcp(p-Br-Bz)-(1→x)-β/α-d-Glcp) containing β-glycosidic linkages (1→2, 1→3, 1→4, and 1→6) were synthesized analyzed by means of CD NMR spectroscopy in three different solvents. For each these four types disaccharides, a correlation was observed between the hydroxymethyl rotational populations around C5−C6 bond residue II with substituents anomeric configuration methoxyl group I, as well solvent. Nonbonded interactions,...

Abstract
Abstract Chiral 2‐amino‐1,3‐butadienes 1 derived from commercially available ( S )‐2‐methoxymethylpyrrolidine react with aromatic N ‐trimethylsilylaldimines and ‐phenylaldimines in the presence of ZnCl 2 to give, after reaction workup, 4‐piperidones 4 6 , respectively, moderate very high enantiomeric excesses. In addition, absolute configurations derivatives a g were determined by circular dichroism NMR spectroscopy on Mosher ester, respectively.
The rotational populations of the hydroxymethyl group in chiral and nonchiral alkyl α- β-galactopyranosides proved, on basis circular dichroism (CD) 1H NMR data, to be dependent structure aglycon: population gt tg rotamers increased decreased, respectively, as pKa bonded alcohol (aglycon) increased, while gg rotamer remained practically constant. Furthermore, low-temperature CD measurements proved that most stable is gt, not tg. In addition, a clear correlation between absolute configuration...
Chemoprevention of human cancer appears to be a feasible strategy for control, especially when chemopreventive intervention is involved during early stages the carcinogenesis process. As part our ongoing research program into new agents, herein are reported isolation, structural elucidation, and biological evaluation 10 (1–10) three known (11–13) sesquiterpenes with dihydro-β-agarofuran skeleton from leaves Maytenus jelskii Zahlbr. Their stereostructures have been elucidated by means...
