A study on malaria transmission, prevalence of infection and anti-sporozoite antibodies was carried out in Burkina Faso (West Africa). The the levels to (NANP)3 were found be related entomological sporozoite inoculation rates measured at same time a defined area. major inducer anti-(NANP)3 antibody production under field conditions is by infected mosquitoes. Levels vary considerably with age transmission season. High raised might offer protection against small inocula sporozoites.

Data suggest that adjuvant human papillomavirus (HPV)-vaccination in women treated for cervical HPV diseases reduces recurrent disease. This study investigates HPV-vaccination and the rate of recurrence undergoing surgery vulvar high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). From January 2013 to April 2020, we enrolled 149 a prospective case-control study. The control group (NV-group) was by standard alone, while received vaccination soon after (V-group). A follow-up performed...

Synthetic peptides have been used to map linear B-cell epitopes of the third variable (V3) region feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) external membrane glycoprotein gp120. The analysis sera from naturally and experimentally FIV-infected cats by Pepscan enzyme immunoassay with four partially overlapping evidenced three antibody-binding domains, two which mapped in carboxyl-terminal half V3. In particular, V3.3 sequence (Gly-392-Phe-413) turned out be important for vitro neutralization that...

Specific-pathogen-free cats, immunized with a 22-amino-acid synthetic peptide designated V3.3 and derived from the third variable region of envelope glycoprotein Petaluma isolate feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), developed high antibody titers to purified virus, as assayed by enzyme-linked immunoassays, well neutralizing antibodies, inhibition syncytium formation in Crandell kidney cells. V3.3-immunized animals control cats were challenged FIV then monitored for 12 months; immunization...

The 190-kilodalton glycoprotein (gp190) of Plasmodium falciparum, the precursor major surface proteins merozoites, is considered a promising candidate for blood stage malaria vaccine. DNA sequences specific gp190 two isolates K1 and MAD20 were subcloned expressed in Escherichia coli. panel fusion obtained represents about 80% polymorphic observed so far within various P. falciparum. Sera from individuals living malaria-endemic area West Africa tested immunoblots against proteins, antibody...

Few population studies are available on epidemiological indexes of hereditary ataxias. An investigation the prevalence rate these movement disorders is in progress for Veneto region, main area northeast Italy with a 4,490,586 inhabitants. The first results this survey concern province Padua, which numbers 845,203 residents (January 1, 2002). inherited ataxias has been estimated at 93.3 cases per million most common types appeared to be autosomal dominant forms, namely spinocerebellar ataxia...

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a complex condition in which systemic inflammation plays role extrapulmonary manifestations, including cardiovascular diseases: interleukin (IL)-6 has both COPD and atherogenesis. The 2011 GOLD document classified patients according to FEV1, symptoms, exacerbations history, creating four groups, from A (less symptoms/low risk) D (more symptoms/high risk). Extracellular vesicles (EV) represent potential markers COPD: nevertheless, no studies...

Community-based malaria control with integrated primary health care appears to be the most feasible approach for endemic countries in their struggle against malaria. To plan and implement personal protection vector measures, there is need comprehensive information about local modes of transmission. Experience insecticide-based programmes entomological data accumulated over years has revealed systems extraordinary heterogeneity, creating multifaceted transmission situations. The care-system...
