Bee venom contains a variety of peptides and enzymes, including serine proteases. While the presence proteases in bee has been demonstrated, role these proteins not elucidated. Furthermore, there is currently no information available regarding melanization response or fibrin(ogen)olytic activity protease, molecular mechanism its action remains unknown. Here we show that protease (Bi-VSP) multifunctional enzyme. In insects, Bi-VSP acts as an arthropod prophenoloxidase (proPO)-activating...

Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitors are involved in various physiological processes, such as ion channel blocking, blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, and inflammation. While spider-derived proteins show activity trypsin or chymotrypsin inhibition K+ no additional role for these has been elucidated. In this study, we identified the first spider (Araneus ventricosus) inhibitor (AvKTI) that acts a plasmin an elastase inhibitor. AvKTI possesses Kunitz domain consisting of 57-amino-acid mature...

Bee venom is a rich source of pharmacologically active substances. In this study, we identified bumblebee (Bombus ignitus) Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor (Bi-KTI) that acts as plasmin inhibitor. Bi-KTI showed no detectable inhibitory effect on factor Xa, thrombin, or tissue plasminogen activator. contrast, strongly inhibited plasmin, indicating it an antifibrinolytic agent; however, ability was two-fold weaker than aprotinin. The fibrin(ogen)olytic activities B. ignitus (Bi-VSP) and...

Abstract Background Field cricket ( Gryllus bimaculatus ) is newly emerged as an edible insect in several countries. Anti-inflammatory effect of glycosaminoglycan derived from this on chronic disease animal model such diabetic mouse has not been fully investigated yet. Thus, the objective study was to determine anti-oxidative mouse. Methods To discover potential therapeutic agents, field (GbG) tested present study. Its activities mice were determined based its abilities reduce glucose, ALT,...
