Abstract Glial glutamate transporter GLT1 plays a key role in the maintenance of extracellular homeostasis. Recent human genetic studies have suggested that de novo mutations (EAAT2) cause early‐onset epilepsy with multiple seizure types. Consistent these findings, global null mice show lethal spontaneous seizures. The consequences dysfunction vary between different brain regions, suggesting may also regions. In this study, we generated region‐specific knockout by crossing floxed‐GLT1...

In patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), non-motor symptoms (NMS) including depression and anxiety are often recognized before motor develop. Monoamine oxidase (MAO)-B inhibitors therapeutically effective for symptoms; however, their effects on NMS in PD yet to be fully assessed. Here, we aimed explore the antidepressant-like of propargyl MAO-B inhibitors, selegiline rasagiline, mice treated 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) as a model, elucidate mechanisms underlying...

Fabry disease (FD) is an X-linked metabolic storage disorder arising from the deficiency of lysosomal α-galactosidase A, which leads to gradual accumulation glycosphingolipids, mainly globotriaosylceramide (Gb3), throughout body. Pain in extremities early symptom FD; however, underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain unknown. α-Galactosidase A knockout animals exhibit nociceptive behaviors, with enhanced expression levels several ion channels. These characteristics are observed treated...

This study investigates the effect of blue light emitted by phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on people’s eye fatigue. We conducted an experiment in which participants performed a visual task under lighting conditions using LED (B-LED) excites phosphors and LEDs (V-LEDs) violet two types phosphors. One V-LEDs had spectral power distribution mimicking those sun (S-LED). During experiment, we measured participants’ subjective fatigue, number blinks, accommodation critical...

Many traffic accidents are caused by human error. In order to help prevent such error, we investigated brain hemodynamics in both the frontal and somatosensory areas functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), electrocardiogram (ECG), following two types of task performance with vibratory stimulation: a Tracking Stroop test. To evaluate changes oxygenated hemoglobin concentration (oxyHb), used δoxyHb as previously defined (H. Iwasaki: Availability future prospects usability evaluation,...
