Transvenous embolization (TVE) for the treatment of a cavernous sinus (CS) dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) occasionally causes cranial nerve palsy (CNP). Overpacking coils is considered to result in CNP. The purpose this study was analyze association TVE-induced CNP with volume and location activated CS.Thirty-one patients CS DAVFs (33 lesions) underwent TVE.Cranial occurred or aggravated 13 cases (39.4%; group). cumulative significantly greater group (0.241 +/- 0.172 cm3) than non-CNP...

Glycyrrhizin has been clinically used as an anti-allergic agent, but its mechanism remains unknown. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of glycyrrhizin on thymolytic and immunosuppressive action cortisone in normal rabbits adrenalectomized rats. Immunization performed by injection bacterial a-amylase emulsified Freund's incomplete adjuvant. Antibody titer serum expressed enzyme-neutralizing activity. The circulating antibody could be detected about 10 days after immunization...

AbstractAbstractObjectives: The selection of therapeutic modalities, including endovascular coil embolization and surgical clipping, for management unruptured paraclinoid aneurysms, remains controversial. Detailed long-term outcome data aneurysms are still lacking. Thus, we evaluated the safety efficacy aneurysms. Methods: From January 1998 to July 2010, 138 patients underwent coiling 140 aneurysms. Their medical records radiologic images were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Complications...

This study evaluated the effectiveness of intra-aneurysmal coil embolization for large or giant carotid artery aneurysms in cavernous sinus seven patients treated by from 2001 to 2010. Only one patient showed improved neurological symptoms caused aneurysmal mass effect during mean follow-up period 53.4 ± 27.3 months. Neurological remained unchanged two patients, and deteriorated four. Intra-aneurysmal is not considered an effective treatment option sinus.

Distal filter protection allows for continuous cerebral perfusion during carotid artery stenting (CAS), although a higher risk of debris migrating into the arteries compared with other systems has been reported. To improve extent capture, we used routine aspiration blood located proximal to in internal column before retrieval device.Of 71 CAS procedures distal protection, was performed 41 procedures. The size and number particles each aspirated sample were measured under stereoscopic...
