Abstract Background Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown cause (CKDu) a disease exclusion, and remains unexplained in various parts the world, including India. Previous studies have reported mixed findings about role heavy metals or agrochemicals CKDu. These compared CKDu with healthy controls but lacked subjects CKD as controls. The purpose this study was to test hypothesis whether metals, i.e. Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), Chromium (Cr) are associated CKDu, central Methods conducted...
Melioidosis is caused by the Gram-negative bacilli Burkholderia pseudomallei, which found in contaminated water and soil spreads via inhalation, inoculation, ingestion. manifests diversely immunocompetent immunocompromised patients, ranging from asymptomatic to life-threatening respiratory distress, septic shock, localized tissue infection, necrotizing pneumonia, soft organ abscesses. Methods: An 18-month observational study was conducted at a tertiary center central India among various...
Bartter syndrome is a very rare and heterogeneous disease with variable age of onset symptom severity. Genotypically they have inherited disorders the thick ascending limb in renal tubular system, which manifest phenotypically as electrolyte imbalance due to loss sodium, chloride potassium. Gain function mutations calcium-sensing receptor has been described some patients Bartter’s (type-5 or autosomal dominant hypocalcaemia syndrome) associated hypercalciuria differentiating it from Gitelman...

Anti-IL-2 receptor has been proven to be effective in reducing the rate of acute rejection kidney transplantation and also improving graft patient survival rates. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed role anti-IL-2 receptor, basiliximab, as an induction immunosuppression. Fifty-seven transplant recipients from living donors who received IL-2 blocker basiliximab (Group 1) therapy combination with cyclosporine (CsA), steroids mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) or azathioprine (AZA) were...
Background The etiology of chronic kidney disease unknown cause (CKDu) remains unexplained, with environmental toxins, i.e., heavy metals and pesticides. being explored for their causal role. We measured pesticide levels in blood urine patients CKDu central India. compared them healthy (CKD) controls. Materials Methods This case–control study (n = 55), CKD 53) controls 50). Levels 6 organophosphates (OPs) 16 organochlorines were by GC-MS. Drinking water sources use, hours spent sunlight also...
Sir, The saprophytic colonization of a cavity by fungal hyphae, without the invasion adjacent tissue, is referred to as ‘fungal ball’ [1]. Fungal balls causing intermittent graft obstruction have not been previously reported. We managed renal case that was characterized obstruction. The patient recipient live unrelated graft. At 4 months after transplantation, he presented with history fever for 7 days and did pass urine 1 day. He had diabetes treated right psoas hematoma 2 previously....
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterised by the presence of several autoantibodies, immune complex formation and multiple organ system involvement. SLE has a wide range manifestations involving nearly all systems. Hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) in well-established common abnormality, which generally mild not included diagnostic criteria SLE. HTG as initial manifestation adult patients association with acute pancreatitis at levels below 1000 mg/dL been previously...
Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and hypertension are common complications in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Progression of CKD can aggravate OSA whereas worsening make difficult to treat patients. We, therefore, conducted a prospective study evaluate the association between pediatric patients CKD. Method In this observational consecutive stage 3–5 (nondialysis dependent) underwent overnight polysomnography 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). The detailed...
This case describes a 42-year-old female with longstanding history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Felty syndrome (FS). She presented acute renal kidney failure, skin rash hemoptysis. A clinical suspicion small vessel vasculitis (SVV) was thought, serology also positive for various markers SVV. However, these could be false-positive in patient arthritis. biopsy performed that led to the final diagnosis cryoglobulinemic vasculitis. Patient managed according standard guidelines therapy...
<br>A case of prefibrotic myelofibrosis with immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis is presented. A 45-year-old female, history right subclavian and axillary vein thrombosis, presented abdominal distension, facial puffiness, pedal edema. Evaluation revealed deranged renal functions nephrotic range proteinuria acute kidney injury. JAK2 mutation evaluated in view portal thrombosis splenomegaly was positive. Renal biopsy mesangial proliferative full house complex deposition on direct...
Background: Glomerular diseases (GDs) and other renal immunologic are an important cause of morbidity mortality. Providing a single point service in collaboration with various specialists at immunology clinic for such patients is not novel, but outcomes have been reported. Here, we report the short-term outcome Indian attending our clinic. Methods: This single-center prospective cohort study enrolled biopsy-proven immunologically-mediated adults between April 2018 December 2019, followed...
Background The outcome of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with COVID-19 and the factors associated its outcome, including mortality, are understudied among Indian population. Objective objective this study is to determine AKI a cohort admitted medical wards intensive care unit (ICU) mortality. Method This retrospective tertiary hospital. A total 1765 were hospital between March 23, 2021, June 30, during second wave pandemic chiefly attributed SARS-Co-V-2 lineage B.1.617. Patients for...
Nephrocalcinosis (NC) is the augmented calcium content within renal parenchyma. Its pathogenesis mainly involves hypercalciuria. The presence of medullary NC provides a window to clinician for diagnosis many important diseases. In this case series, we highlight three diseases that could be diagnosed with high index suspicion and detailed evaluation after their presentation as NC.
Mercuric chloride salts are highly toxic compounds that have been linked to suicidal or accidental poisoning. Because of their high solubility, mercuric can cause acute tubular injury, corrosive effects in the gastrointestinal system, hematemesis and hematochezia, circulatory collapse, death. Here, we report an unusual case poisoning a 17-year-old girl who manifested with necrosis association intratubular nephrocalcinosis emphasize role hemodialysis patient’s successful recovery.
