In a prospective, randomized, double-blind study the effects on infection rates of 1-day and 3-day course cefuroxime versus placebo were studied in patients undergoing peripheral vascular surgery. During 30-month period 211 randomized to one three treatment groups: Group I Placebo; II 1 day; III 3 days. Cefuroxime was administered intravenously (1.5 g every 8 hours) first dose given hour before Wound groups were: 16.7%; 3.8% (p less than 0.05 vs placebo); 4.3% placebo). One graft occurred...

The 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification CNS tumors defines neuroblastoma FOXR2 in group embryonal tumors. Published clinical outcomes tend to suggest a favorable outcome after resection, craniospinal irradiation, and chemotherapy. This multicenter study aimed describe imaging features neuroblastoma-FOXR2, which have been poorly characterized thus far.On basis previously published cohort molecularly classified as patients with available data were identified. on...

The use of laser Doppler flowmetery (LDF) to measure gastric blood flow was evaluated in the cat and man. reproducibility flowmetry recordings studied feline stomach. In five cats flowmeter signals venous outflow stomach were simultaneously recorded. made during operation gastroscopy 140 patients by means two different (PF1–4-kHz PF2–12-kHz) systems. highly reproducible experiments, with a coefficient variation varying between 4% 13%. Angulation probe within 60–120° against tissue under...

This study showed, that in a syngeneic tumour-host system rats non-sensitive to dextran, dextran 40 and 100 did not stimulate metastasis formation after intravenous tumour cell injection, neither when given as pre-treatment nor the suspension. Dextran 1000 stimulated of metastases both these situations. Disturbed microcirculation, intravascular coagulation effects upon membrane appear be main reasons, why under experimental conditions used.

Induced thrombocytopenia has been found to decrease metastasis formation after intravenous tumour cell injection which emphasizes the importance of platelets in formation. Using a syngeneic 20-methylcholanthrene-induced fibrosarcoma rats, effect platelet reduction was investigated combination with trauma and infusion dextran 1000. It that were important for increased metastases but not Thus, 1000 stimulate by different mechanisms. Possible explanations are discussed.

Plasma volume determinations were done with RIHSA under normal conditions and after intravenous infusion of dextran solutions. The plasma rats in millilitre was found to be 0.026 × body weight + 0.92. Infusion into dextran-sensitive Sprague-Dawley followed by a marked reduction haemoconcentration as consequence an anaphylactoid reaction. This reaction could partially inhibited pretreatment cyproheptadine chloride. determination the method used this study can evaluate dextran-anaphylactoid In...

Blood flow in the human stomach was measured during operation with a 85Krypton washout method which made simultaneous determinations of total blood and intramural distribution possible. The antrum corpus could be investigated separately. Eleven patients duodenal ulcer disease were studied pentagastrin infusion after addition cimetidine, 3 mg/kg bw, to evaluate effect drug on augmented gastric flow. Eight recordings over three antrum. Cimetidine caused 66 +/- 5% decrease (mean SE; range...

Venous appearance of oxygen and red cells labelled with methaemoglobin was compared in the gastric vascular bed. At ‘resting’ blood flow appeared earlier than after simultaneous close i. a.injection, as would be expected from intravascular laminar profile. However, when lowering arterial inflow pressure to stomach by partially occluding coeliac trunk, often cells. When lower 50 mmHg this always case. This observation is taken indicate that during these experimental conditions an...
