Unique properties exist in nanofluidic channels. In this paper, we report a new phenomenon, ion enrichment/depletion, associated with nanochannel structures. As voltage is applied across nanochannel, ions are rapidly enriched at one end and depleted the other of nanochannel. The degree enrichment depletion directly related to extent double-layer overlap. A simple model presented qualitatively interpret phenomenon.
DB2 with BLU Acceleration deeply integrates innovative new techniques for defining and processing column-organized tables that speed read-mostly Business Intelligence queries by 10 to 50 times improve compression 3 times, compared traditional row-organized tables, without the complexity of indexes or materialized views on those tables. But is much more than just a column store. Exploiting frequency-based dictionary main-memory query technology from Blink project at IBM Research - Almaden,...

DNA sequencing separations have been performed in microfabricated electrophoresis channels with the goal of determining whether high-quality is feasible these microdevices. The separation matrix, temperature, channel length and depth, injector size, injection parameters were optimized. fragment sizing demonstrated that 50-micron-deep provide best sensitivity for our detection configuration. One-color single-stranded M13mp18 on 3% linear polyacrylamide (LPA) used to optimize twin-T...
Abstract Successful chemotherapeutic intervention for management of lung cancer requires an efficient drug delivery system. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) can incorporate various therapeutics; however, GNPs have limitations as carriers. Nano-sized cellular vesicles like exosomes (Exo) ferry GNP-therapeutic complexes without causing any particle aggregation or immune response. In the present study, we describe development and testing a novel Exo-GNP-based therapeutic system -‘nanosomes’- therapy....

In many areas of application, key objectives chemical separation and analysis are to minimize the sample quantity while maximizing information obtained. Increasing measurement sensitivity is especially critical for proteomics research, when processing trace samples where multiple measurements desired. A rich collection technologies has been developed, but resulting remains insufficient achieving in-depth coverage proteomic as small single cells. Here, we combine picoliter-scale liquid...
We report automated DNA sequencing in 16-channel microchips. A microchip prefilled with sieving matrix is aligned on a heating plate affixed to movable platform. Samples are loaded into sample reservoirs by using an eight-tip pipetting device, and the chip docked array of electrodes focal plane four-color scanning detection system. Under computer control, high voltage applied appropriate programmed sequence that injects separates samples. An integrated confocal fluorescent detector...
The apparent proton conductivity inside a nanochannel can be enhanced by orders of magnitude due to the electric double layer overlap. A filled with an acidic solution is thus micro super conductor, and array such nanochannels forms excellent conductive membrane. Taking advantage this effect, new class exchange membrane developed for fuel cell applications.
RFID technology provides significant advantages over traditional object-tracking technologies and is increasingly adopted deployed in real applications. applications generate large volume of streaming data, which have to be automatically filtered, processed, transformed into semantic integrated business Indeed, data are highly temporal, observations form complex temporal event patterns can very different for various Thus, it desirable a general processing framework with powerful language,...
