Abstract In this work, we have developed a facile, dry, and environmentally friendly mechanochemical method for the synthesis of cadmium sulfide (m-CdS) nanoparticles in planetary ball mill using non-toxic precursors. Thiourea was first time used as precursor ion room temperature solid state milling synthesis. For comparison approach with others, were also prepared solvothermal (s-CdS). The crystal structure studied by XRD, qualitative chemical band properties examined Raman scattering x-ray...
CdS nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using cadmium acetate and sodium sulfide as Cd S precursors, respectively. The effect of thiosulfate an additional sulfur precursor was also investigated (combined milling). samples characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, UV-Vis PL DLS, TEM. Photocatalytic activities both compared. photocatalytic activity CdS, which is produced combined milling, superior to that obtained route in the degradation Orange II under visible light irradiation....
An effort to prepare different non-stoichiometric CuxSy compounds starting from elemental precursors using mechanochemistry was made in this study. However, out of the 7 stoichiometries tested, it only possible obtain three phases: covellite CuS, chalcocite Cu2S and digenite Cu1.8S their mixtures. To phase with highest purity, Cu : S stoichiometric ratio needed be fixed at 1.6 1. The reaction between copper sulfur completed within a second range, however, milling performed for up 15 minutes...

Herein a systematic study of two-step solid-phase synthesis CdS@ZnS nanocomposites and their photocatalytic activity is presented. First, CdS nanoparticles were synthesized in planetary ball mill through solid-state ion exchange reaction. In the second step, Cd2+ ions partially replaced by Zn2+ at surface using solvent free long-term activation high-energy mill. The optimal time was determined to be 45 min. Spherical with diameter 10 nm modified (45 min) characterized X-ray diffraction...
