The first member of Cephaloecetes in the north-western part Indian Ocean, ungulatus sp. nov., is described from Chabahar Bay, Gulf Oman and Qeshm Island western Hormuz Strait, Iran. new species characterized other two genus by a unique claw-shaped ventral plate on antenna 2 article 2.
A new species of ampithoid amphipod, Pleonexes nargessi, is described from the southern Iranian coasts Persian Gulf and Oman. The most similar to P. kava (Myers, 1985), but distinguished by presence posterior tooth defining robust seta on palm male gnathopod 1, semi prehensile pereopod 5, non-prehensile pereopods 6–7. Ampithoe qeshmensis Layeghi & Momtazi, 2018 transferred into Pleonexes.
Abstract Aim Freshwater planarians may have a wide geographical range despite their assumed low vagility. Found across four continents, Dugesia either an ancient origin on large palaeo landmass, followed by colonisation in different regions before continental fragmentation, or more recent and subsequent transoceanic dispersal. We seek to resolve between these two hypotheses. Location Africa, Eurasia Australasia. Taxon Genus (Platyhelminthes: Tricladida: Dugesiidae). Methods used data from...
A new genus of acotylean polyclad, Persica qeshmensis gen. nov. sp. (Acotylea, Pleioplanidae), was collected from intertidal rocky shores the Northern Persian Gulf, Iran. The is established on presence small tentacles; tentacular and cerebral eyes; spermiducal bulbs; true seminal vesicle; prostatic vesicle atomata-type; muscular coiled ejaculatory duct, provided with a stylet, absence vagina bulbosa or Lang’s vesicle. characterised by sandy beige to light brown background colour, pale...
Discovery of environmentally safe agents is currently considerable interest, due to the continuous impacts biofoulers on marine habitats and adverse effects biocides environment. This study reports anti-adhesion effect living Actinobacteria against fouling strains isolated from submerged panels in environments Iran. The extract Glycomyces sediminimaris affected biofilm formation Kocuria sp. Mesorhizibium sp., as dominant this ecosystem, up 93.2% 71.4%, respectively. metabolic activity fouler...
Parhyale darvishi sp. nov., is described. The new species characterized by a naked posterior margin on the propodus of pereopods 5-7, special arrangement robust setae first male gnathopod and lack dense fine second antennae. nov. distributed from western coasts Persian Gulf to eastern Oman.
Variations in the population of lancelets inhabiting Chabahar Bay were surveyed statistically. Multivariate analysis Iranian Branchiostoma using 5 morphometric characteristics indicates no separation populations by locality study area (ANOSIM global; R = 0.2). Principal component mean values meristic present with those conspecifics other around world showed that lancelet are very similar to B. lanceolatum and completely different from arabia belcheri previously reported adjacent waters for...
New record and new species of the families Melitidae Bousfield, 1973 Maeridae Krapp-Schickel, 2008 are described from Iranian shorelines Persian Gulf. Melita persia sp. nov. is differentiated other members M. zeylanica Stebbing, 1904 group by: presence two setae on inner ramus third uropod, setal arrangement telson, a recurved proximal lobe sixth coxa in females. Also, Elasmopus menurte Barnard, 1974 previously Western Australia Mauritius recorded, for first time, Gulf north-western Indian Ocean.
Abstract Variations in environmental factors can alter the species distribution pattern intertidal rocky shores. The Persian Gulf (PG) and of Oman (GO) vary substantially with respect to oceanographic conditions. abundance biodiversity gastropods five locations across northern PG GO were compared, variables underlying these organisms investigated. A total 67 gastropod identified. largest average density (294 ind./m 2 ) diversity ( N = 43) for occurred Hotel Lipar station (LIP) located...
