Exogenous gene delivery to alter the function of heart is a potential novel therapeutic strategy for treatment cardiovascular diseases such as failure (HF). Before therapy approaches cardiac can be realized, efficient and reproducible in vivo techniques must established efficiently transfer transgenes globally myocardium. We have been testing hypothesis that genetic manipulation myocardial β-adrenergic receptor (β-AR) system, which impaired HF, enhance function. delivered adenoviral...

A highly active phospholipase D that is specific for cardiolipin was detected in the gram-negative bacterium Haemophilus parainfluenzae . Previously reported preparations have come exclusively from higher plants. The bacterial enzyme hydrolyzed to phosphatidyl glycerol and phosphatidic acid. During incubation, acid disappeared. Phosphatidyl ethanolamine, methylated ethanolamines, choline, were not when rapidly hydrolyzed.
